Aún así, por la forma de escribir, calculo que es de los años 80 y cuando busqué en Google confirmé que es de 1987 de la Editorial Ateneo de Caracas. Obviamente ya no se cuelga una sábana manchada de sangre en la ventana de un hotel en señal de que la señorita llegó virgen al matrimonio, tal como lo reseña Misael Salazar Léindez en su texto **Biografía de la virginidad. Y ni hablar de la creencia de una tribu en el estado Amazonas, la cual dice que en la vagina de una virgen hay un pez que la cuida y que solo el Shaman puede vencerlo, así que él rompe el himen de todas... ...y así va el libro... Sinceramente, leer toda esta cantidad de tradiciones y creencias, me consta que muchas de ellas son ciertas, solo me hace recordar la violencia física, psicológica y sociológica a la que hemos sido sometidas; y es que hechos tan simples como asociar la rigidez o flacidez de un himen al color de piel de la mujer, o a la zona geográfica de dónde es, joder. O esta de que si canta un gallo en plena boda, es señal de que la gallina estuvo en otro corral y si se cae el velo o las arras frente al altar es mala señal. Diría el Padre de la Iglesia de San Antonio de los Altos en el estado Miranda: "nos preocupamos por estupideces".

Otras recurren a métodos quirúrgicos como en Caracas, según el libro, y pagan por la restauración del himen; pero tengan cuidado porque dependiendo del precio puede que solo le amarren los pelos de un lado con los del otro. No hay duda de que en Venezuela somos bastante creativos. Me gustaría saber si en otros países existen creencias en torno a la virginidad o si solo somos nosotros los que tenemos fijación por las piernas abiertas ja, ja, ja. Por cierto, este libro lo escribió un hombre y me pareció curioso que la mayoría de las historias, por no decir todas, de todos los estados plasmados, han sido contadas por hombres. Entonces, este texto es la visión masculina de la virginidad más que una biografía, que concluye además que todas las mujeres llegan o llegaban virgen al matrimonio, cosa contraria al hombre. Sería interesante comparar, 40 años después de esta investigación de Salazar, cómo han evolucionado estas costumbres y creencias en torno al tema en Venezuela.
