Lobos is a city located about 70 km from Ezeiza, which meant we’d have to ride 140 km on the highway. At this stage of our training, those distances no longer scare us, and luckily we’re feeling really good. ___ Faltando poco para el gran evento ciclístico, tocaba hacer un fondo de más de 100 km y decidimos ir a la ciudad donde vio nacer al ex presidente argentino Juan Domingo Perón. Lobos es una ciudad distante 70 km aproximadamente de ezeiza, motivo por el cual nos obligaría a rodar 140 km en la ruta. As for Gonzalo, he’s taking it very easy in his Zone 2. Enjoying the sunrise on the road is highly recommended, not to mention when a café con leche and a croissant await us to share. ___ Como siempre, el rodaje estuvo comandado por nuestro entrenador Gonzalo, quien a un ritmo de 31 a 32 aproximadamente, nos llegó como decimos en Argentina, como niño para el colegio. A esa velocidad voy trabajando en mi zona 3 aproximadamente y algunos otros en diferentes zonas. En el caso de Gonzalo va muy relajado en su zona 2. The coach makes us carry snacks in our jerseys for the ride. From bananas to nougat—in my case, I like to bring quince paste—while others might bring some kind of energy gel. But we always have to have nutrition and hydration on hand during the ride. Of course, what we eat for breakfast is also part of the training, beyond just resting a bit and catching up on the latest gossip. On the way back, we also stop to eat something, and of course, when we get home, we eat again. The body has to be ready for tomorrow’s work, and at this stage ___ En esta etapa de los entrenamientos, me doy cuenta que la nutrición es fundamental. El entrenador nos obliga a llevar en nuestro Jersey, comida para el camino. Desde bananas, algún turrón, en mi caso me gusta llevar membrillo, otros lo pueden llevar a algún tipo de gel, Pero siempre tiene que estar la nutrición y la hidratación en el camino. Por supuesto lo que consumimos en el desayuno también es parte del entrenamiento más allá de descansar un poco y ponernos al día con los chismes. A la vuelta también paramos a comer algo y por supuesto cuando llegamos a nuestro domicilios, volvemos a ingerir alimentos. Of course, we always do this after finishing our workout or when we’re already very close to home.
