The McManus brothers return with another excellent independent offering. I loved The Block Island Sound, and when I reviewed that film a few years ago, I told you to keep an eye out for the next projects from this writing-directing duo. The Block Island Sound made my list of the best independent horror films of that year.

Redux is a genre-defying film that doesn't require a huge budget. In a very creative way, and knowing exactly what they want to show, they present us with a film that tackles the theme of multiverses, with doses of thriller and horror. I was completely satisfied. I enjoy these kinds of films more than any big-budget production packed with special effects. Here, they compensate for the lack of big-budget effects by making everything more believable.

It's a revenge story, with plenty of bloody scenes and sequences that thrilled me. You quickly empathize with the main character, and I appreciate that the film addresses the psychological consequences of both loss and the constant thirst for revenge. When revenge becomes an addiction, it can have serious consequences.

These kinds of films are good options that don't get much promotion, so if you look carefully on a streaming platform, you can find good material, as in this case. I saw it available on Prime Video and Mubi. Depending on your country, check which service has it in its catalog.

The filmmakers once again used a small cast and people they had already worked with on their previous production. I liked the performances of Jeremy Holm and Michaela McManus, the latter in the lead role. I found her portrayal of a mother repeatedly seeking revenge for her daughter's murder very believable. In a supporting role, actor Jim Cummings also collaborates with the filmmakers again. I think he's the most well-known of them all, since he's also a director, and I've seen several of his independent films.

The young actress Stella Marcus has a role in what appears to be her first major film. She's quite young, so we don't know if we're looking at a new star. This is something that fascinates me about independent cinema: it can launch the careers of future box office hits. I wish him the best of luck and success in his career.

Fans of science fiction with time travel, or in this case, parallel universes, will love it. The story is good, and I recommend you see it this weekend.

Me encantó The Block Island Sound, y cuando reseñé esa película hace unos años, les dije que estuvieran atentos a los próximos trabajos de este dúo de guionistas y directores. The Block Island Sound figuró en mi lista de las mejores películas de terror independientes de ese año.

Redux Redux es una película que desafía los géneros y que no requiere un gran presupuesto. De una manera muy creativa, y sabiendo lo que quieren mostrar, nos presentan una película que aborda el tema de los multiversos, con dosis de thriller y terror. Quedé completamente satisfecho. Disfruto más de este tipo de películas que de cualquier producción de gran presupuesto repleta de efectos especiales. Aquí, compensan la falta de grandes efectos haciendo que todo sea más creíble.

Es una historia de venganza, con muchas escenas sangrientas y secuencias que me emocionaron. Uno empatiza rápidamente con el personaje principal, y aprecio que la película aborde las consecuencias psicológicas tanto de la pérdida como de la constante sed de venganza. Cuando la venganza se convierte en una adicción, puede tener graves consecuencias.

Este tipo de películas son buenas opciones que no reciben mucha promoción, así que si buscas con atención en una plataforma de streaming, puedes encontrar buen material, como en este caso.
