A menudo leemos historias de otros y creemos que no nos va a pasar, pero la realidad es que esto puede sucederle a cualquiera.
Tengo una cuenta secundaria en Hive Blog a la que no le doy uso. Sin embargo, la tenía allí, junto con todas mis claves de Hive Blog de esta, mi cuenta principal.
Un día se me ocurrió hacer un respaldo de las claves de la cuenta principal.
Es tedioso, es la verdad, son muchas claves; sin embargo, es estrictamente necesario. Así que las guardé en varios lugares; entre los que puedo compartir contigo están:
- Una libreta exclusiva para contraseñas.
- Un documento en Excel con contraseña.
- KeePass. Llevo años usándolo; hasta ahora es seguro y cómodo para resguardar contraseñas.
Notita importante: No uso la opción de guardar las contraseñas en Google. Nunca se sabe si alguien hackee tu cuenta, o simplemente ingresen a tus dispositivos sin que te des cuenta. Por ello prefiero opciones más seguras con contraseñas y que no se conectan a Internet, ni guardan nada en la nube.

I have a secondary Hive Blog account that I don't use. However, I had it there, along with all my Hive Blog passwords from this, my main account.
One day it occurred to me to back up the passwords for my main account.
It's tedious, it's true, there are a lot of passwords; however, it's absolutely necessary. So I saved them in several places; among those I can share with you are:
A notebook exclusively for passwords.
A password-protected Excel document.
KeePass. I've been using it for years; so far it's secure and convenient for protecting passwords.
Important note: I don't use the option to save passwords in Google. You never know if someone might hack your account, or simply access your devices without you noticing. That's why I prefer more secure options with passwords that don't connect to the internet or store anything in the cloud.

Entonces ¿qué catástrofe ocasione en estos años como hiver?
A pesar de que al leer esto pensarás que soy una hiver muy responsable, todo esto solo lo hice para la cuenta principal, que es esta.
Mientras que deje para después hacer lo mismo con la cuenta secundaria.
Y como todo en la vida que no se hace de inmediato, ni se anota, ni nada, se me olvidó.
Pasó el tiempo, algunos meses aproximadamente. Pensaba y con mucha seguridad que ambas cuentas tenían su respaldo correspondiente. Así que hice limpieza en la PC.
En ese proceso borré muchísimos documentos que ya no puedo recuperar porque también vacié la papelera.
Después de otros meses más, me di cuenta de que entre esos documentos borré las claves que no respaldé de la cuenta secundaria.

Although you might think I'm a very responsible hiver after reading this, I only did all this for the main account, which is this one.
I left doing the same for the secondary account for later.
And like everything in life that isn't done immediately, or written down, or anything, I forgot.
Time passed, a few months or so. I thought, quite confidently, that both accounts had their corresponding backups. So I cleaned up my PC.
In that process, I deleted a lot of documents that I can no longer recover because I also emptied the Recycle Bin.
After a few more months, I realized that among those documents I had deleted the passwords for the secondary account that I hadn't backed up.

La primera lección, por supuesto, es no dejar nada para después.
Y la segunda es que esa sensación de pérdida fue más allá. Pensé que si me hubiese sucedido con la cuenta principal, hubiese perdido años de trabajo y esfuerzo en mi cuenta.
Por ello, no solo debo ser más cuidadosa con las cosas que elimino, sino también revisar y confirmar que hay un respaldo de ello. Es tedioso, pero así lo hacemos en administración, y esto no es tan diferente de ello.

The first lesson, of course, is to never put anything off.
And the second is that this feeling of loss went much deeper. I thought that if it had happened to my main account, I would have lost years of work and effort.
Therefore, I not only have to be more careful with the things I delete, but also check and confirm that there's a backup. It's tedious, but that's how we do it in administration, and this isn't so different.
Algo que haría diferente al respecto
Sin duda, lo que haría diferente es aplicar todo lo que he aprendido como administrador a Hive Blog.
De cierta forma ya lo hago, soy constante, llevo un registro de mis post publicados así como de los logros alcanzados, tengo metas establecidas y guardo muy bien las claves de mi cuenta.
Afortunadamente, ese error no afectó a mi cuenta principal, pero me enseña un valioso mensaje al respecto.

Without a doubt, what I would do differently is apply everything I've learned as an administrator to Hive Blog.
In a way, I already do that; I'm consistent, I keep track of my published posts and achievements, I have set goals, and I keep my account passwords very secure.
Fortunately, that mistake didn't affect my main account, but it taught me a valuable lesson.
