Hoy les comparto una nueva aventura en la ciudad de Cumaná, la cual se conoce como la primogénita del continente americano por ser la primera ciudad en tierra firme fundada por los colonizadores luego de un largo proceso de evangelización a los indígenas que habitaban la zona.
El mes de abril ha sido muy activo y he tenido la oportunidad de visitar diferentes lugares en la ciudad por eso acostumbro llevar mi teléfono para tomar fotografías de los lugares que me gustan, a principios del mes hice un recorrido por la franja costera de la ciudad y pude conocer el anfiteatro Hernán Marín, que fue inaugurado el año pasado y rinde homenaje a un destacado cantautor de la ciudad, la franja costera es ideal para relajarse y observar hermosos paisajes al atardecer; en esta oportunidad el recorrido lo realicé por la avenida Panamericana y Avenida Nueva Toledo, donde se ubica la plaza Alí Primera, siempre me había preguntando por qué el nombre de la avenida Nueva Toledo y este corresponde a uno de los tantos nombres que recibió Cumaná en el largo proceso de fundación, ya que en varias ocasiones los grupos indígenas se levantaron en contra de los conquistadores y quemaron la ciudad, posteriormente se refunda definitivamente con el nombre inicial Cumaná. gracias a la conversación con una señora pude obtener esta información y responder mi pregunta.

Today I’m sharing a new adventure in the city of Cumaná, which is known as the “firstborn of the American continent” because it was the first city on the mainland founded by the colonizers following a long process of evangelizing the indigenous people who inhabited the area.
April has been a very busy month, and I’ve had the chance to visit different places in the city, which is why I always carry my phone to take pictures of the spots I like. At the beginning of the month, I took a tour along the city’s coastline and got to see the Hernán Marín Amphitheater, which opened last year and pays tribute to a prominent singer-songwriter from the city. The waterfront is ideal for relaxing and enjoying beautiful sunsets; on this occasion, I walked along Panamericana Avenue and Nueva Toledo Avenue, where Alí Primera Square is located. I had always wondered why the avenue is named Nueva Toledo, and it turns out this is one of the many names Cumaná received during its long founding process, since on several occasions indigenous groups rose up against the conquistadors and burned the city; later, it was definitively reestablished under its original name, Cumaná. Thanks to a conversation with a local woman, I was able to obtain this information and answer my question.
La plaza constituye un importante punto de referencia en ambas avenidas y un homenaje al cantautor Alí Primera, también resalta por sus coloridos murales, los cuales representan varios elementos de Venezuela y la música de este destacado artista Venezolano, la plaza posee hermosos murales en el piso donde se observan diversas flores e instrumentos musicales que acompañaban las melodías de Alí Primera, consta de dos paredes una lateral y otra en la parte trasera, en la pared lateral se encuentra un cuadro de las maracas, el cuatro y una espectacular Guacamaya con los colores amarillo, azul y rojo que representan al pabellón Nacional de Venezuela.
En la pared posterior está una figura del cantante, también el nombre de Plaza Ali primera con el seudónimo de cantautor del pueblo, que era así como se conocía, también hay jardineras que incluyen bancos en los costados, están hechas de concreto y en el centro de las dos jardineras frontales se ubican los instrumentos musicales como la mandolina y el cuatro, son de color marrón y parecen reales, salvo por el tamaño que es un indicativo de que estamos al frente de una escultura, los detalles están bien elaborados de acuerdo a las características de cada uno de estos instrumentos; en la pared trasera se ubica un tambor de color marrón hecho también con cemento, en esta área además de leer el nombre de la plaza, hay varias plantas y en la pared lateral se ubica la escultura de las maracas, a poca distancia del cuadro de estas con el tambor, están pintadas con las franjas de la bandera nacional; la plaza es pequeña pero con suficiente espacio para que la familia pueda disfrutar la brisa y el paisaje en el atardecer, tal como se observa en las fotografías las plantas y grandes árboles en esta plaza son inexistentes, razón por la cual las visitas se deben realizar en horas de la tarde y de la noche, ya que, durante el día no hay protección contra los rayos solares o espacios con sombra.

There are also planters with benches on either side, made of concrete, and in the center of the two front planters are musical instruments such as the mandolin and the cuatro; they are brown and look real, except for their size, which indicates that we are looking at a sculpture; the details are well crafted according to the characteristics of each of these instruments; on the back wall there is a brown drum also made of concrete; in this area, in addition to the name of the plaza, there are several plants, and on the side wall is a sculpture of maracas, a short distance from the drum; they are painted with the stripes of the national flag; The plaza is small but offers enough space for families to enjoy the breeze and the scenery at sunset. As seen in the photographs, there are no plants or large trees in this plaza, which is why visits should be made in the afternoon and evening, since during the day there is no protection from the sun’s rays or shaded areas.
Para visitar esta hermosa y colorida plaza se pueden tomar varias rutas, una de ellas es por la avenida perimetral y el elevado, al bajar ya estamos en la avenida Nueva Toledo, nos quedamos en la parada del mismo nombre, de allí hay que caminar aproximadamente 50 metros y ya estás en la plaza; la otra es tomando la ruta de la avenida Panamericana y quedarse en la parada que se ubica al frente, al cruzar la avenida ya estás en esta hermosa plaza, su ubicación es de fácil acceso, lo cual permite a los visitantes conocerla pues se encuentra localizada en la intersección de ambas avenidas que son transitadas frecuentemente por varias líneas de transporte que se dirigen a diversas zonas de la ciudad.
En la fotografía se observa parte del sector, una vista parcial del elevado y la avenida Universidad, que converge con el elevado en sentido de la carretera nacional Cumaná -Puerto La Cruz.
To visit this beautiful and colorful plaza, you can take several routes. One is along the perimeter avenue and the overpass. Upon exiting, you'll be on Nueva Toledo Avenue. Get off at the bus stop of the same name, and from there, it's about a 50-meter walk to the plaza. Another option is to take the Pan-American Avenue route and get off at the bus stop directly across the avenue. Crossing the avenue, you'll find yourself at this lovely plaza. Its location is easily accessible, allowing visitors to discover it quickly, as it's situated at the intersection of two avenues frequently used by various bus lines heading to different parts of the city.
