The Most Important Three Industries of the Decade

I recently saw a statement that made me reflect on the future of the world and what truly matters from now on. This is a statement credited to CZ in an interview with Scott Melker on April 9. According to him, the internet, blockchain, and AI are the three greatest industries of the last three decades, and any country that doesn't ignore one of them is in trouble.
Thinking about it, it doesn't just sounds like a passing fad or something to doubt. The reality is what we are experiencing right now whether we know it or not.
The internet has become the backbone of almost everything we do today. For all we know, everywhere we look, everything is on the internet. We got used to having everything at our fingertips and we cannot live without it. I remember when there was no such thing as internet available everywhere, and now life without it is unimaginable.
The blockchain is something that many of us can relate to and this especially resonate me because of my involvement in crypto over the years. Blockchain is not just our crypto, it is about owning your data, it is transparency and secure. The Blockchain has changed how we think about money, transaction, and trust. And I believe it will change how nations and their government can be trusted.
For those of us who have been in the crypto space for a long time, the technology opened a whole new world for us. It gives new opportunities, but also brings new challenges that makes the whole thing beautiful.
And then there is AI, which has become impossible to ignore. AI is being integrated into everything. In systems, in tools, in terms of day to day action we do online. It is affecting the way work is done, automating tasks and in some cases, replacing existing human workflows. This is where it gets exciting and at the same time a little scary.
I have seen how AI is slowly becoming part of work realities and in doing so you start asking questions about the future of jobs, skills and relevance. It is no longer a future issue, it is a current issue and anyone not paying attention might be left behind.
What also struck me the most with that CZ statement is that 'any country who will ignore one among those industries will be at a disadvantage'. When you think about it deeper it makes sense. These three industries are set to determine economies, world power and the functioning of societies. If a country doesn't have a solid internet infrastructure it will not be able to fully participate in the global digital economy. If it will not develop (or adopt) blockchain it will not be able to benefit from a financial and technological revolution that is underway already. And finally if it won't use AI it will not be able to really keep up in terms of innovation, productivity and competitiveness.
From a personal perspective this also has consequences for individuals. We are not only witnessing those three industries changing the world, we are also affected by that change. Completely ignoring them would be neglecting the revolution happening already and choosing to stay behind. It is not about being able to master everything always but to have an awareness and to be able to position oneself at some key moment when it matters. The combination of the internet, blockchain and artificial intelligence is shaping a new is shaping a new kind of world, one that is more connected, automated and more decentralized.
Whether we realize it or not, we are already in the midst of the shift. It's not whether their industries will matter, but whether we are paying attention to them enough as they unfold before us.
