The Kindest Interruptions

I recently noticed that my call service provider has been doing something worthy of an ode. Every time I place a call, just before the receiver picks up, a small message appears on my screen. A very simple pop-up. But the words, they’re always too comforting to ignore.
I’ve been getting messages like;
“You have a beautiful heart. Don’t ever let anyone tell you otherwise.” “You are loved just the way you are.” “Love dwells in you.” “The beauty of love is that it keep giving even after its gone” “You are worthy of calm and intentional love.” And many more.

These messages are short, almost fleeting but they linger and heal something in me.
It has gotten to the point where I find myself looking forward to making calls, not just for the conversation on the other end, but for that brief moment before it begins. That little moment of mine where I hold my phone dearly, staring at the screen and waiting for the message to come up. I love to pause where a few kind words meet me exactly where I am. There is something so deeply comforting about it.
In a world where people rarely stop to say gentle things to one another, these small reminders feel like sitting on the cloud during sunset. Like someone, somewhere, decided that even in the middle of something as ordinary as a phone call, a little kindness could exist. And it does.
Always, I read the message and smile before the call connects. Other times, I sit with it a little longer, especially on days when the call I am about to make feels heavy. On those days, I don’t dismiss the message immediately. I let it stay. I let the words settle into me, giving me the reassurance I didn’t know I needed. I mean it keeps me steady and also keeps me from unraveling too quickly.
I can’t help but wonder how many other people see those same messages. How many hearts are softened, even if just for a moment. How many people, like me, pause, rather briefly, and feel seen in a way they didn’t expect. It’s such a small thing, but small things have a way of becoming significant when they arrive at the right time.

I hope they never stop. Because in a world where so many are uncertain, where kindness sometimes feels rare or delayed, these little messages remind me that gentleness still exists, even in the most unlikely places.
I can speak for a whole lot of people and say that’s all we really need sometimes. Just a few words that remind us that we are, in fact, still worthy of love and all the beautiful things in life.
Do have a lovely week ahead.
