Stolen from Us

Stolen from Us
If life is meant to be beautiful, why is there so much ugly? A world dying under the pressure of desire, A species consumed by endless hunger. Endless wonders collapsed into ended hearts, Inspiration killed like smothered sparks, Sunsets pass by without witness, Hope ends and nightmare starts.
The beauty that was is gone, The one that could have been stolen. All the effort to shoot for heaven, Corrupted by hellish wants. A billion smiles now drowned in tears, Faces pulled taut beyond their years, Sunrise has gone and will not return, For the end of ends it nears.
Streams replaced by piled waste, A wasteful people's inevitable mark. Pristine mountains lay littered, And oceans once full now deserted. I should have been better than my best, I could have done more than the rest, I would if I could only return, Instead in complacency I will nest.
