[ENG/ESP] A Wednesday among colors, culture, and murals in La Asunción.

Here we are again with you, dear #wednesdaywalk community, to warmly share the walk we took today. As always, I’m happy to bring you a little glimpse into our daily routine—those simple moments that serve as little breaks from the hectic pace of the week. Early in the morning, we headed out to start our workday at the Parque Costa Azul Shopping Center. Luckily, the task we had assigned was fairly short, and we managed to finish faster than expected. As soon as we were done, we headed to the farm supply store in La Asunción to buy food for our birds, because we always try to keep everything stocked for their care. With that taken care of, we decided to make the most of our time and treat our bodies and souls to a little stroll through La Asunción.

Otra semana más con ustedes, querida comunidad de #wednesdaywalk, para compartirles con mucho cariño el recorrido que hicimos este día. Como siempre, me alegra traerles un pedacito de nuestra rutina, de esos momentos sencillos que se convierten en pequeñas pausas dentro del ritmo acelerado de la semana. En la mañana, bien temprano, salimos a cumplir con nuestra jornada de trabajo en el Centro Comercial Parque Costa Azul. Por suerte, la actividad que teníamos asignada era bastante breve y logramos terminar más rápido de lo esperado. Apenas concluimos, nos dirigimos a la agropecuaria de La Asunción para comprar el alimento de nuestras aves, porque siempre procuramos tener todo al día para su cuidado. Ya con eso resuelto, decidimos aprovechar el tiempo y regalarle al cuerpo y al alma un pequeño paseo por La Asunción.

The truth is, this week started off at a breakneck pace—the kind that demands focus, energy, and a lot of patience. And when days like this roll around, nothing is more welcome than a little art, a visual respite, a space where the mind can relax and the heart can find inspiration. That’s why La Asunción is always a good idea. As many know, this city is the capital of Nueva Esparta state and has been designated the “City of Murals.” It has its own coat of arms, like other historic cities, but what truly sets it apart is the way art has taken over its streets.

La verdad es que esta semana comenzó con un ritmo intenso, de esos que te exigen concentración, energía y mucha paciencia. Y cuando los días vienen así, nada se agradece más que un poco de arte, un respiro visual, un espacio donde la mente se relaja y el corazón se inspira. Por eso La Asunción siempre es una buena idea. Como muchos saben, esta ciudad es la capital del estado Nueva Esparta y ha sido declarada como la ciudad mural. Tiene su propio escudo, como otras ciudades históricas, pero lo que realmente la distingue es la manera en que el arte se ha adueñado de sus calles.

This town is home to a large statue of Our Lady of the Assumption, the patron saint of Isla Margarita, Coche, and Cubagua. Her presence holds deep symbolic meaning for all the locals.

En esta localidad se encuentra una gran imagen de Nuestra Señora de la Asunción, patrona de Isla Margarita, de Coche y de Cubagua. Su presencia es un símbolo profundo para todos los lugareños.

As soon as you enter and start walking down its streets, you can see the beautiful church in the distance, with its bell tower rising above the houses. It’s a sight that never fails to move you, because it combines history, faith, and architectural beauty.

Apenas entras y comienzas a caminar por sus calles, puedes ver desde la distancia la hermosa iglesia con su campanario elevándose entre las casas. Es una vista que siempre emociona, porque combina historia, fe y belleza arquitectónica.

Thanks to a wonderful initiative and the talent of outstanding artists, the city’s facades have become an open-air museum. Each mural tells a story—about the culture, traditions, faces, colors, and essence not only of Margarita but also of Venezuela. Everything is created with special care, highlighting the values of the community and the identity of its people.

Gracias a una iniciativa maravillosa y al talento de excelentes pintores, las fachadas de la ciudad se han convertido en un museo al aire libre. Cada mural cuenta algo; la cultura, las tradiciones, los rostros, los colores y la esencia no solo de Margarita, sino también de Venezuela. Todo está hecho con un cariño especial, resaltando los valores de la localidad y la identidad de su gente.

Halfway through the tour, we met a couple of artists who, to our surprise, had only been living on the island for six months but had already made their mark with several murals. Talking with them was an unexpected treat; they radiate passion, humility, and a deep love for what they do.

En medio del recorrido nos encontramos con un matrimonio de artistas que, para nuestra sorpresa, solo tiene seis meses viviendo en la isla y ya han dejado su huella con varios murales. Conversar con ellos fue un regalo inesperado; transmiten pasión, humildad y un amor enorme por lo que hacen.

After spending some time enjoying this art that lifts the spirit, we continued on our way, passing by the Municipal Palace, which houses the city hall of La Asunción, part of the Arismendi municipality. Its architecture is truly beautiful—a blend of history and elegance that always catches the eye. To my surprise, in one of its courtyards, a group of people was doing aerobics, filling the air with music, energy, and movement. I loved seeing how the city combines art, physical activity, and community life.

Después de disfrutar un rato de este arte que alegra el espíritu, seguimos nuestro camino pasando porel Palacio Municipal,donde está ubicada la alcaldía de La Asunción, perteneciente al municipio Arismendi. Su arquitectura es realmente hermosa, una mezcla de historia y elegancia que siempre llama la atención. Para mi sorpresa, en una de sus áreas había un grupo de personas practicando ejercicios aeróbicos, llenando el ambiente de música, energía y movimiento. Me encantó ver cómo la ciudad combina arte, actividad física y vida comunitaria.

Finally, we continued on our way home, relaxed, chatting, and enjoying the pleasant weather. That’s how our Wednesday outing went—simple, yet full of little moments that make life more beautiful. I wanted to share this with you thanks to @tattoodjay initiative. See you next Wednesday. See you soon.
