Hello, anime fans. We’re back with another “Top” to wrap up this winter season. This time, we’re going to talk about the action anime I’ve watched over the first three months of the year—and, to be honest, there were quite a few of them, for my own enjoyment. To be honest, I was really looking forward to putting this list together because there are several anime series that I loved watching and highly recommend, especially if you’re action fans like I am. Most action anime don’t stand out due to the fierce competition, but this year kicked off with the best of the best competing against each other. As you probably know, the animes in this TOP list are ranked from 1 to 10, starting with the lowest-rated and ending with the highest-rated. Everything you’ll read below is solely and obviously my personal opinion. If you have no idea which anime to watch among the many that have aired lately, then I invite you to stick around and watch this TOP list until the end so you can find your next favorite anime.

Hola, fanáticos del anime. Volvemos con otro TOP para este fin de temporada de invierno de éste año en curso. En esta ocasión vamos a hablar de los animes de acción que he visto en estos primeros tres meses del año, los cuales -para placer personal- no fueron pocos, la verdad. Si les soy sincero, tenía muchas ganas de hacer este TOP debido a que hay varios animes que me fascinaron ver y que recomiendo bastante, sobre todo si son fanáticos de la acción, como lo soy yo también. La mayoría de animes de acción no se destacan debido a la enorme competencia que hay, pero éste año empezó con lo mejor de lo mejor compitiendo entre sí. Como ya sabrán, los animes de éste TOP son clasificados del 1 al 10, empezando con el de menor calificación y terminando con el de mayor calificación. Todo lo que leerán a continuación será única y evidentemente mi opinión personal. My Hero Academia: Vigilantes (Season 2)

Let’s start with something a little “lighter”—the return of a Spin-Off that became hugely popular thanks to the success of the main series. This alternate story shows us a side of the universe very different from what we came to know in My Hero Academia. Based on the manga series of the same name written by Hideyuki Furuhashi and illustrated by Betten Court, Vigilantes is an animated adaptation produced by Bones Film. Its second season brings us back to Koichi Haimawari and Kazuho Haneyama, who continue their social work—one as the well-known “The Crawler” and the other as the famous Pop★Step. I’m a huge fan of My Hero Academia because—as the superhero fan that I am—I was fascinated by how it tells a much deeper and more interesting story set in a world full of heroes. This prequel and, at the same time, Spin-Off known as Vigilantes also captivated me, as it manages to stand out on its own with an alternative story and somewhat unique characters. Its return with this second season didn’t generate much buzz this winter season due to the fierce competition, which we’ll discuss later. But that doesn’t take away from the fact that it had its standout moments as well.

Empecemos con lo más “suave”, el regreso de un Spin-Off que se volvió muy popular debido al éxito de su obra principal. Una historia alternativa que nos muestra un lado muy diferente a lo que llegamos a conocer en My Hero Academia. Basada en la serie de manga homónima escrita por Hideyuki Furuhashi e ilustrada por Betten Court, Vigilantes es una adaptación animada producida por el estudio Bones Film. Su segunda temporada nos trae de vuelta a Koichi Haimawari y Kazuho Haneyama quienes siguen realizando labores sociales, siendo uno el ya conocido “The Crawler” y la otra la famosa Pop★Step. Soy muy fan de My Hero Academia ya que -como todo fan de los superhéroes que soy- me fascinó ver cómo nos cuenta una historia mucho más profunda e interesante de un mundo repleto de héroes. Ésta precuela y, a la vez, Spin-Off conocida como Vigilantes me fascinó también ya que logra destacarse por sí misma con una historia alternativa y personajes un tanto particulares. Su regreso con esta segunda temporada no dió mucho de qué hablar en esta temporada de invierno debido a la gran competencia que hubo y que conoceremos más adelante. Pero esto no quita el hecho de que tuvo sus momentos destacables también.

Starting with the protagonist, The Crawler, we saw a solid development of him as an outlaw hero and his adventures with Pop★Step and Captain Celebrity. We also have a new villain who really stood out thanks to his twisted and defiant personality, not to mention a Quirk that’s hard to ignore, honestly. Another thing I liked—and why I love this series—is the development they gave to certain familiar supporting characters like Aizawa Shōta, Iwao Oguro (Knuckleduster), and even Captain Celebrity himself. It also has a pretty balanced mix of comedy, action, and drama. As for the storytelling and action, it’s not bad either. Despite having its quiet moments, the anime also has some very impactful and interesting scenes. Especially during the action sequences, thanks to the excellent animation in Vigilantes. Thanks to the great work Bones always does with its adaptations, here we can enjoy a perfect balance of fluidity with explosive scenes, excellent visual effects, and traditional animation mixed with some computer-generated animation. That, combined with the great sound effects and soundtrack. Personally, I give it a rating of 8/10 in terms of the action genre.

Empezando por el protagonista, The Crawler, vimos un buen desarrollo como héroe ilegal y sus aventuras con Pop★Step y Captain Celebrity. También tenemos un nuevo villano que llegó a llamar bastante la atención debido a su personalidad retorcida y desafiante, además de tener un Quirk que es difícil de ignorar, la verdad. Otra cosa que me gustó y que por eso me encanta dicha obra es el desarrollo que le dieron a ciertos personajes secundarios ya conocidos como lo es Aizawa Shōta, Iwao Oguro (Knuckleduster) y hasta el mismo Captain Celebrity. También tiene una mezcla de comedia, acción y drama bastante equilibrada. En cuanto al nivel de narración y acción tampoco está mal. A pesar de tener sus momentos tranquilos, el anime posee también momentos muy impactantes e interesantes. Sobre todo cuando tiene escenas de acción debido a la excelente animación que posee Vigilantes. Gracias al gran trabajo que siempre hace Bones con sus adaptaciones, aquí podemos disfrutar de un equilibrio perfecto de fluidez con escenas explosivas, efectos visuales y animación tradicional excelentes con algo de animación hecha por computadora. Eso, sumado a los buenos efectos de sonido y banda sonora que tiene. Personalmente, le doy una calificación de 8/10 en lo que respecta al género de acción.

Sentenced to Be a Hero

Let’s move on to one of the biggest surprises of the winter season; an anime that has the potential to be a “masterpiece,” provided it maintains its exceptionally high standards of quality and production in future seasons. Based on the light novel series of the same name written by Rocket Shōkai, this anime adaptation was produced by Studio Kai. The anime tells the story of Xylo Forbartz, a former knight who was unjustly sentenced to be a “hero” for life. Contrary to what everyone thinks, being a hero in this world is considered the worst punishment that can exist in life. A dystopian world, dark fantasy, an endless war, and a completely opposite reinterpretation of the famous concept of the “hero”. This anime has all that and more. What fascinated me most is this interpretation of the title of “hero” in this work, which is more of a punishment than an honor or privilege as such. This is how the famous “hero’s journey” takes on a completely different perspective from what we’re usually quite familiar with. Another thing that fascinates me is its story, which introduces us to a protagonist condemned by an evidently corrupt government with shady dealings up its sleeve.

Sigamos con una de las grandes sorpresas de la temporada de invierno, un anime que tiene el potencial de ser una “obra maestra”, siempre y cuando mantenga el altísimo nivel de calidad y producción en sus próximas temporadas. Basada en la serie de novelas ligeras homónimas escritas por Rocket Shōkai, ésta adaptación animada fue producida por Studio Kai. El anime nos cuenta la historia de Xylo Forbartz, un ex caballero que fue sentenciado injustamente a ser un “héroe” de por vida. A diferencia de lo que todos piensan, ser un héroe en este mundo es considerada como la peor condena que puede existir en la vida. Mundo distópico, fantasía oscura, una guerra interminable y una reinterpretación completamente opuesta del famoso concepto del “héroe”. Todo esto y más es lo que posee éste anime. Lo que más me fascinó es dicha interpretación del título de héroe en esta obra, siendo más una condena que un honor o privilegio como tal. Es así como el famoso “camino del héroe” tiene una visión completamente distinta de lo que normalmente conocemos bastante bien. Otra cosa que me fascina es su historia, la cual nos presenta a un protagonista condenado por un gobierno evidentemente corrupto y con cosas turbias escondidas entre manos.

This story has everything a fan could want in an action-fantasy series, with a unique twist that’s much darker and bloodier. It’s also deeply tragic, given the backstories of both the protagonist and the other characters we come to know. As if all that weren’t enough, the anime also introduces us to an enemy far greater, more mysterious, and darker than anything we see throughout the series. It has fascinating plot twists, not to mention the huge number of well-produced action scenes with exceptional attention to detail. As for its animation and production, I have to say it’s among the best you’ll see this winter season—and I’m not exaggerating. Studio Kai outdid itself with this production, and honestly, it really surprised me. The animation style, character designs, fluidity, varied color palette, and excellent use of light and shadow are all fascinating. The same goes for its sound effects and soundtrack. Something else that impressed me is how it maintained its quality at 100% from the beginning to the end of the series. Personally, I give it a 9/10 rating in the action and fantasy genre.

Dicha historia posee todo lo que cualquier fan busca en una obra de acción y fantasía con un toque distinto y mucho más oscuro y sangriento. Además de lo trágico que es debido al historial tanto del protagonista como de los demás personajes que llegamos a conocer. Por si no fuera suficiente todo esto, el anime también nos presenta a un enemigo mucho más grande, misterioso y oscuro de lo que logramos ver a lo largo de la serie. Tiene sus giros de trama fascinantes, sin mencionar la enorme cantidad de escenas de acción bien producidas y con una excepcional atención a los detalles. En cuanto a su animación y producción tengo que decir que es de lo mejor que verán de esta temporada de invierno, sin exagerar. Studio Kai se superó a sí mismo con la producción de esta obra y es algo que me sorprende bastante, la verdad. Tanto el estilo de animación como los diseños de los personajes, la fluidez, la paleta de color variados y el uso excelente de luces y sombras es fascinante. Lo mismo sucede con sus efectos de sonido y su banda sonora. Algo que me impresionó también es la forma en la que mantuvo su nivel de calidad al 100% desde el principio hasta el final de su serie. Personalmente, le doy una calificación de 9/10 en lo que respecta al género de acción y fantasía.

Hell's Paradise (Season 2)

Now let’s talk about another highly anticipated return of one of the most fascinating action-fantasy anime I’ve ever seen in my life. It’s a series I really liked from the moment I first saw it air three years ago (man, time sure flies, doesn’t it?). Based on the web manga series of the same name written and illustrated by Yuji Kaku, Hell's Paradise is an anime adaptation produced by Twin Engine and animated by the famous studio MAPPA. Its second season picks up where the previous season left off, with our protagonist suffering from amnesia and the rest of the survivors trying to figure out who the real enemy is. When I told you that 2026 started off with a bang, I wasn’t exaggerating, and now you see why. Even though it’s not ranked that high, I’m telling every user or bot reading this right now to watch this anime—of course, after you finish reading this. There are action animes with generic, predictable plots, and then there are priceless gems like Hell’s Paradise. This anime doesn’t just tell us the typical story; it transports us to a world that can be both a paradise and a hell at the same time (hence its name). A group of death row inmates on an island teeming with monsters and immortal beings.

Hablemos ahora de otro regreso tan esperado de uno de los animes de acción y fantasía más fascinantes que he visto en toda mi vida. Una obra que me gustó bastante desde el momento en el que la vi en emisión por primera vez hace ya tres años (vaya que sí pasa el tiempo, vale). Basada en la serie de manga web homónima escrita e ilustrada por Yuji Kaku, Hell's Paradise es una adaptación animada producida por Twin Engine y animada por el famoso estudio MAPPA. Su segunda temporada nos cuenta los eventos posteriores al final de la temporada anterior, con nuestro protagonista sufriendo de amnesia y el resto de supervivientes intentando entender quién es realmente el enemigo. But it’s not just entertaining—it’s captivating thanks to the blend of drama, storylines, and character development in this series. Hell's Paradise isn’t just action with an invincible protagonist and powerful enemies; it’s the survival story of a criminal, a social outcast who was given a second chance in a hell on earth where he must prove what he’s made of and live for someone more important than himself. This alone is reason enough to call this anime a masterpiece. But I don’t let myself be swayed solely by romantic and emotional elements; I also judge the quality and impact of its plot and the epic scale of its various battles. In this regard, Hell’s Paradise stands out quite well, as it has no boring episodes—which is to be expected given the part of the story adapted in this second season. While it doesn’t have many plot twists and has an ending that’s more unsettling than exciting, it’s not bad at all. Its animation—well, it’s to be expected that it’s great, given that MAPPA is behind this adaptation. You could even say it has better animation than its previous season. Personally, I give it a rating of 9.5/10 in terms of the action and fantasy genres.

En resumen, esta premisa es perfecta para todo aquel que busque algo entretenido y repleto de acción para ver. Pero no solo es entretenido, es fascinante debido a la mezcla de drama, historias y desarrollos de personajes que tiene esta obra. Hell's Paradise no es solo acción con un protagonista invencible y enemigos poderosos nomás, es la historia de supervivencia de un criminal, un paria de la sociedad que tuvo una segunda oportunidad en un infierno en la tierra donde debe de demostrar de lo que está hecho y vivir por alguien más importante que él mismo. Solo con esto ya es motivo suficiente como para decir que este anime es una obra maestra. Pero no me dejo llevar solo por cosas románticas y emotivas, sino que también juzgo el nivel e impacto de su trama y la epicidad de sus diferentes batallas. En este caso, Hell's Paradise logra destacarse bastante bien ya que no tiene ningún episodio aburrido, lo cual es de esperarse debido a la parte de la historia que se adaptó en esta segunda temporada. Si bien no tiene muchos giros de trama y posee un final que inquieta más de lo que emociona, no está para nada mal. Fire Force (Season 3 - Part 2)

Finally, I get to tell you about one of my favorite action-fantasy anime series. Unfortunately, it’s only the second half of its third and final season. It’s a fascinating, entertaining anime—perfect for any fan looking to experience the hero’s epic story, but in a way that’s never been told before. Based on the manga series of the same name written and illustrated by Atsushi Ohkubo, Fire Force is an animated adaptation produced by David Production. This second part recounts the events following the grand finale of the previous part, with our protagonist, Shinra, tied to a bed and looking very different. Fire Force isn’t just an anime about firefighters who produce fire and eliminate people who turn into fire monsters; it’s a story of hope in a world plagued by human despair. The series stands out thanks to its narrative and its way of blending humor with drama and existentialism with a typical action-fantasy story. Not only does its premise hook you, but it also makes you reflect on the various things that can drive us into utter despair. The symbolic way it portrays all this within its world is also intriguing due to the vast number of religious and cultural references it contains.

Al fin podré hablarles de uno de mis animes favoritos de acción y fantasía. Lamentablemente, solo será su segunda parte de su tercera y última temporada nomás. Un anime fascinante, entretenido y perfecto para todo fanático que busca ver la gran historia del héroe, pero de una forma que nunca antes se había contado. Basada en la serie de manga homónima escrita e ilustrada por Atsushi Ohkubo, Fire Force es una adaptación animada producida por el estudio David Production. Esta segunda parte nos cuenta los eventos posteriores al gran final de su parte anterior, con nuestro protagonista, Shinra, atado a una cama y con un aspecto muy diferente. This second half of its third season is the most impressive and surreal turning point and finale I’ve ever seen in an action anime of this genre. Personally, I expected it to be great based on a few battles that were spoiled to me a while back, but what it ultimately did was elevate my impression to a level I’d never imagined. Not only did it manage to condense a huge number of events and battles into full episodes of humor and action, but it also managed to maintain the level of epicness right up to its final, unforgettable episode. And that’s not even mentioning the characters, each one more interesting and unique than the next. It’s true that it has its quirks, such as the Fanservice, but the anime even addresses this in one of its final episodes as a form of freedom and rebellion against the many rules and idealism in society. The way it uses this element to elevate a character and make the anime funnier and more entertaining is a perfect example of what you can find in Fire Force. The animation, of course, isn’t bad at all, and one could even say that the studio in charge did a spectacular job. Although I didn’t like how they handled certain computer-generated details, it also has its fascinating moments. Personally, I give it a rating of 9.8/10 when it comes to the action and fantasy genres.

Esta segunda parte de su tercera temporada es el punto de inflexión y final más impresionante y surrealista que he visto en un anime de acción de este estilo. Jujutsu Kaisen (Season 3)

We wrap up this TOP, as expected, with the hottest anime of the moment. Yes, I’ve joined the massive fanbase of this series, which, incredibly, has become so popular in recent years that it’s practically impossible to ignore, to be honest. Its long-awaited return caused such excitement and a stir, and it’s no wonder given how the series has been adapted so far. Based on the manga series of the same name written and illustrated by Gege Akutami, Jujutsu Kaisen is an animated adaptation produced by the famous studio MAPPA. This third season tells part of the famous “Culling Game” arc, with our protagonist, Yuji Itadori, eliminating curses en masse in the heart of Tokyo while trying to escape those who are hunting him down to kill him. After binge-watching the entire series to catch up on this anime before the premiere of its third season, I was quite surprised to see how well-crafted the plot is. While it seems to have many clichés typical of any other action anime—which it does have—this doesn’t detract from its value, as it has a unique way of using supernatural elements to make its characters somewhat “interesting”.

Finalizamos este TOP como era de esperarse, con el famoso anime del momento. Si, me sumé a la enorme lista de fans de esta obra que, increíblemente, llegó a tener una popularidad tan grande en estos últimos años que es prácticamente imposible de ignorar, la verdad. Su tan esperado regreso causó tanta emoción y revuelo que no es para menos debido a lo que se viene adaptando de la obra hasta el momento. Basada en la serie de manga homónima escrita e ilustrada por Gege Akutami, Jujutsu Kaisen es una adaptación animada producida por el famoso estudio MAPPA. Ésta tercera temporada nos cuenta parte del famoso arco del “Juego de la Eliminación”, con nuestro protagonista, Yuji Itadori, eliminando maldiciones en masa en medio de la gran ciudad de Tokio mientras intenta escapar de los que lo buscan para matarlo. Luego de lanzarme una maratón completa para ponerme al día con éste anime antes del estreno de su tercera temporada, me sorprendió bastante ver lo bien elaborada que está su trama. Si bien parece tener muchos clichés típicos de cualquier otro anime de acción -los cuales sí tiene-, no le resta valor ya que posee una forma única de utilizar elementos sobrenaturales para hacer a sus personajes un tanto “interesantes”.

And it’s not just supernatural elements—it also incorporates science fiction elements due to the way it handles certain laws of physics. The first thing that bothered me was the scale of power, specifically the curses, which, to a certain extent, doesn’t make sense. But the anime goes to such great lengths to introduce each character and their curse in such a well-crafted way that it’s almost absurd. I won’t deny that there are characters—whether new or not so new—who really surprised me. Every story they tell us and every plot development we see is so impactful that it’s hard to ignore. But if all that weren’t enough, I think what gives Jujutsu Kaisen its special touch is its animation. Can a work be a masterpiece just because of its great animation? That depends on what the work is about, and in this case, it was lucky enough to be an action Shōnen with a touch of dark fantasy. MAPPA treats Jujutsu Kaisen like its golden goose, and it’s no wonder it’s their favorite given its incredible popularity. But in this third season, they really went all out with animation that’s so spectacular, so fascinating, so dazzling, so impressive, so… my God, seriously. Personally, I give it a well-deserved 10/10 when it comes to the action genre.

Y no solo elementos sobrenaturales, sino que también usa elementos de ciencia ficción debido a la forma de manejar algunas leyes de la física. Lo primero que me disgustó es su escala de poder, siendo éstas las maldiciones, lo cual es algo que en cierto punto no tiene sentido. Pero el anime se esfuerza tanto en presentar a cada personaje con su maldición y todo de una forma tan bien hecha que es hasta absurdo, inclusive. No voy a negar que hay personajes, ya sean nuevos o no tan nuevos, que me sorprendieron bastante. Cada historia que nos cuentan y cada desarrollo que vemos es tan impactante que es difícil de ignorar. Pero si no fuera suficiente todo esto, considero que lo que le da el toque especial a Jujutsu Kaisen es su animación. ¿Puede una obra ser una genialidad con una gran animación? Esto depende de lo que trata la obra y en este caso tuvo la suerte de ser un Shōnen de acción con algo de fantasía oscura. MAPPA trata a Jujutsu Kaisen como si fuera su gallina de los huevos de oro y no es de menos que sea su preferida tomando en cuenta su increíble popularidad. Pero en esta tercera temporada sacó la casa por la ventana con dicha animación tan espectacular, tan fascinante, tan deslumbrante, tan impresionante, tan… Dios mío, de verdad. Personalmente, le doy una merecida calificación de 10/10 en lo que respecta al género de acción.
