My car has started giving me trouble again. These issues have become recurring because the vehicle really needs major repairs. Honestly, I’d love to just drop in a new engine, buy a brand-new wiring harness, and replace all the sensors to finally end this cycle of constant repairs, but right now, that’s just not financially possible. >#### Cómo reparé el código de error P0343 Falla en el Sensor de Posición del Árbol de Levas (CMP) >Mi carro a comenzado a tener fallas nuevamente, se han vuelto recurrentes porque se requieren reparaciones mayores. To give you an idea, I’m sharing a photo of the most recent scan I ran, where you can see several errors related to sensors and cylinders. So, I’m going to go through them one by one to see if I can find a permanent solution—or at least something that will last a lot longer. >Las fallas son tantas que hablar de ellas y solucionarlas es contenido para varias publicaciones. It’s located on one of the corners of the cylinder head cover, where you can easily see the connector. I know from experience that one of the symptoms of a bad CMP sensor is a hard start; I usually have to try three to five times just to get the car to turn over. >##### Código de error P0343 >Comencé por este codigo de error porque concidero que es el más fácil acceso, ya que se trata del Sensor de Posición del Árbol de Levas (CMP - Camshaft Position Sensor). Este se ubica en una de las esquinas de la tapa de la culata donde se pueden observar fácilmente su conector. Se por experiencia que uno de los síntomas cuando hay problemas con este sensor es el encendido. As you can see, it’s visibly damaged. This is because it’s one of the connectors that gets unplugged the most during previous repairs, like timing belt changes, replacing oil seals and camshafts, or swapping out the valve cover gaskets to fix oil leaks. >Comencé a retirar el material aislante que cubría el cableado del sensor. When I tried to remove it, the middle wire snapped off easily. I tried to do a temporary repair while I looked for a new connector to replace it, which isn't easy for a 2013 vehicle—you usually only find the high-turnover parts. >Es claro que la constante manipulación a causado este deterioro. To my surprise, the seller told me it was "homemade," but to me, it looked very well-made. The important thing was that the seller let me test it first to make sure it clicked into place correctly before I paid for it. >Tras una larga busqueda finalmente encontré uno parecido pero que encaja bien. For safety reasons, I used the soldering iron itself to shrink the tubing. It’s a huge risk to use a lighter or matches that close to the fuel lines. It seems like common sense, but you’d be surprised how many bad mechanics or inexperienced people do it that way. The main thing is that the job turned out well, and now I just have to move on to the rest of the error codes. >Me dispuse hacer el cambio, empatando los cables con estaño y colocándole termo encogible, es cuál por medida de seguridad reduje con el mismo cautín que use para la soldadura, ya que es un riesgo muy grande usar encendedor o palitos de fósforo para hacerlo, al estar tan cerca de la línea de combustible. Parece algo obvio de hacer, pero se sorprenderían cuantos malos mecánicos y personas sin saber lo hacen de esta manera poco segura.
