Dear friends, we are still living in uncertain times, which is why I’ve been working on these verses for a few days now, and I think today is the right day to publish them. When words spring from the heart, they cease to be mere grammar and become a vibrational frequency capable of crossing oceans and calming inner storms. In literary tradition, there is a long history of seeking solace in nature, tranquillity and silent resilience (think of Wordsworth or Keats). ![](https://images.ecency.com/DQmc631sQ2Jo6zAHL4m5uC2yz6UjRZm4UZgpE7TA6DTx2ex/whatsapp_image_2026_04_03_at_13.09.28.jpg) For this poetic exercise, I have sought a tone that combines the elegance of the English language with that human warmth found within each of us. I have used images such as the ‘hearth’ and the ‘moor’, which evoke that deep, rustic peace. I hope the message resonates with you.

# ***A Hand Upon the Shoulder***

When the mist hangs heavy o’er the English lane, And the world feels etched in shades of grey and rain, I reach across the silence, through the shifting air, To place a hand upon your shoulder, and simply linger there. I know the weight of questions that have no certain end, The weary miles you’ve walked, my dear and quiet friend. But look within the garden of your own resilient soul, For there’s a hidden ember that can make the broken whole. Peace is not a distant land, nor a sun that never sets, It is the way the oak tree stands, and forgives the wind’s regrets. It is the joy of small things—the kettle’s rising song, The knowledge that within you, you have been brave for long. Let the turmoil ripple by, like the tide upon the shore, You are the steady harbour, you are so much more. The light you seek is waking, a soft and golden light, The dawn is merely waiting for the passing of the night. So breathe the morning clover, find solace in the deep, For there are seeds of hope within the promises you keep. You are not walking lonely through the shadows or the glen, The strength you need is waiting to be found within... again.
