Getting Paid to Think! 🧠✨
Welcome back, Digital Citizen! In our last lesson, we talked about the different kinds of money in our city. Today, we’re going to learn the coolest secret of all: How do you actually get that money?
In most video games, you have to spend hours "mining" for gold or completing chores to get coins. In the world of Bitcoin, giant computers work all night solving math problems to "mine" new coins. But on Hive, we do things differently. We don't mine with loud, hot computers—we mine with our brains!
The Magic Library 📚
Imagine a giant, colorful library in the middle of our Digital City. Anyone can walk in and put something they made on the shelves.
- Maybe you wrote a funny story about a space-cat.
- Maybe you took a beautiful photo of a sunset.
- Maybe you shared a secret tip on how to level up in a game.
On regular apps like YouTube or TikTok, the "Big Bosses" at the top keep almost all the money from the ads you watch. But on Hive, there is no Big Boss. Instead, there is a Rewards Pool—a giant treasure chest that refills with new coins every single day.
How the Treasure Chest Opens 🔓
The treasure chest doesn't just give coins to everyone who walks by. It only opens when the Community uses their "Super Strength" (remember Hive Power?) to vote on your work.
- You Share: You post your cool space-cat story.
- Neighbors Read: Other citizens see your story.
- The "Upvote" Spark: If they think your story is smart, funny, or helpful, they click the Upvote button.
- The Brain Mine: Their upvote tells the Hive treasure chest: "Hey! This kid used their brain to make our city better. Give them some coins!"
Why is it called "Proof of Brain"? 🧐
It has a funny name, right? It just means you have to prove you used your brain!
If you just post "Hi" or "Give me money" over and over, that’s not using your brain—that’s being a robot. The community won't upvote that. But if you are creative, kind, and smart, you are "Proof-of-Brain Mining."
Your Brain is Your Superpower 🦸♂️
The best part? It doesn't matter if you are 8 years old or 80 years old. It doesn't matter if you live in a big house or a tiny village. In our Digital City, the smarter and more creative you are, the more you can grow your wealth.
On Hive, being "smart" isn't just about getting A’s in school. It’s about:
- Being a Good Neighbor: Leaving nice comments on other people’s work.
- Sharing Your Talents: Showing the world what you’re good at.
- Teaching Others: Helping someone learn something new.
The Lesson: In the old world, people mined for gold in the dirt. In our Digital City, we mine for gold in our imagination!
