Nostalgia around kitchen storage in Bengali domestic life is surprisingly rich—it’s not just about containers, but about rhythms, smells, and quiet rituals that shaped everyday living. Particularly nostalgic image is the tin containers of biscuits and muri, often reused from old brands, slightly dented but deeply loved. Opening them felt like a small reward—sometimes you’d find naru or nimki hidden inside, saved for later but inevitably discovered early.
Something like this I discovered today in my Mamar Bari ( my maternal uncle's house) where my Mami ( aunt) used to keep tea leaves and probably never washed to avoid any invasion that can ruin the smell of pure Darjeeling tea. It's sheer nostalgia to hold this beauty without any warning like 'Ekdom Haat Dibi Na' ( Don't you dare to touch).
