Hello everyone,
I made up time to watch Netflix's newest movie, Anaconda. It is a remake of Anaconda, an old-time classic horror movie about the largest snake on Earth. I remember watching this movie as a child at a friend's place, but all I can recall is the horror. Ideally, I am not a fan of horrible movies, but I had to give this one a shot because it had Jack Black, and they did their best to come from the angle of comedy. Well, I am one of those people who finds Jack Black extremely funny right from his days of voice acting, playing Po in Kung Fu Panda.

The movie came from a new angle this time around, the angle of a group of friends who have a shared love for movies and making them. They are all childhood friends with a love for one another. Although we can see the life factor of how they have been driven apart. One is a struggling actor, one is a wedding video creator, one is a producer, one is going through things that I still don't understand, and then the last one is going through a divorce. The idea of long-time friendship is one I truly admire, and how they came together to celebrate a friend's birthday. On the friend's birthday, is when they decided they wanted to make a movie about Anaconda since their friend had the rights to the movie. This is when it all begins. They kept the movie Indie style by traveling to the Amazon in Brazil, in order to get the real deal. Nothing is more funny than seeing how they are trying to make a movie within a movie. I find that hilarious.

The moment I knew these people were funny was in the first scene of the movie. They had to hire a snake guy because they wanted it all to be so real, no added effects or CGI. The snake guy's job was to make sure nothing bad happened to them while they were filming. For a moment, how does a guy claim to have a snake as a best friend? A dog is much better than referring to the snake as a pet is fine, but as a best friend, that is funny. The first scene required the actor to hold the snake up close to his face while the producer was shooting. We had Jack Black as the director, so you expect funny things to happen on the scene. The actor kept shouting on the top of his lungs out of fear from the snake, and all Jack could say was hold on, hold on, this is good stuff. Out of fear, the snake was tossed into the river, where it died on the spot. Someone's best friend was killed on the spot.

After this death, the creepy things began to hunt them one after the other. In the quest to get a new snake for their movie, that is when they encounter the real villan anaconda. Big as anything you would imagine as it hunts them down, and the funny Jack Black still tells his producer to keep rolling because this is some premium shoots. I knew this was going to be one horror movie that would be different. It was quite funny as I had some good laughs.
My Rating - 6/10
