Everyone wants to have success, but not everyone really understands what it actually costs. We admire people who have achieved success and the achievements that they have made, and even their lifestyle. But what you may not know are the sacrifices they made and the prices they have paid and keep paying in order to achieve success and to sustain it. You have to understand that the price of success is not what you pay once and for all, rather you have to pay it daily. This comes from your actions, choices, decisions, responsibilities that you take, and even your determination and discipline.

I have been around the gym for a couple of times in the past. In fact, one of my friends operates one, so I used to go to his. I observed something when I was going to the gym. To build muscles or to keep fit, it is not about the weight you can carry in a day, nor the presses you can do at once, nor the exercise you can do at a go. But it is about consistency and what you have done over time. That is, when you start the process, you have to continue, not just for once. After you have kept to the routine, over time, you will begin to see the result in your body. And that is how you will achieve your desired goal.
Every goal that you desire to have must come with a price, and this is the price of discipline. That is, the willingness to do what needs to be done, not because you feel like doing it, but because it is required that you do it. For example, waking up in the morning when sleep would have been the sweetest, going out for your daily hustles even when you do not feel like it, staying focused even when a lot of things are trying to distract you, and pushing yourself forward even when motion seems difficult or slow. These daily actions may seem small by mere looking at it, but over time, they will add up to create very significant impact in your life. The drop of water for a consistent amount of time will cause great flood.
A lot of people think that success is all about some massive moments, or about some major breakthrough. Well, it true that these moments exist, but they are often a result of daily efforts. What you do on a daily basis matters more, and holds more significance than what you do occasionally. For example, reading a couple of chapters on a daily basis is better than trying to read the whole book at once, and end up not reading anyone. Practising a few lines of codes daily, before you know it, you will become a programmer. The outcome of your life is a sum total of what you do repeatedly. It is by doing something over and again that you will master it, and it will become a part of you.

You have to pay for the price of success even if you do not feel motivated to do so. Motivation is temporary, but discipline is what keeps you going even when you do not feel like it. As a matter of fact, there will be days when you will feel tired, demotivated, discouraged, or even feeling like giving up. These are the days that actually matter the most. Making a decision to keep going even when it feels so hard it what separates those who have succeeded from those who have not. Discipline may not feel comfortable and may even be inconveniencing, but it is a sacrifice and the price that you have to pay to get the success that you desire.
Another very important price to pay is patience. Results may not come immediately, but it does not mean that it will not come. Now, imagine putting all your efforts into something and not seeing it immediately. When you plant a seed, you will not see the fruit immediately. In fact, you may not even see it till after a few months or years, depending on the crop you planted. But it does not mean the fruit will not grow. You only need to have patience. In the same way, in life, and in success, you have to learn patience and follow the due process.
