https://youtu.be/F-uDDmxDe40?si=qMwjXQXxKIFSB6ja God is the author of nations. The people Babel decided to build a tower to make a name for themselves and avoid being scattered across the earth, a direct contradiction to God's command in Genesis 9:1 to spread out and fill the earth. In response, God confused their language, scattered them, ensuring that His purpose stands. This reminds us that our national identity, is part of God's divine plan. The people of Babel were united in language and purpose, though their goal was wrong. Yet, even in error, their unity had great power. That tells us something critical: Nothing significant can be built without unity and likewise, nothing collapses faster than a house divided against itself. We are a nation richly blessed by God, with abundant human and natural resources. But our greatest threat after corruption is not poverty or insecurity; it is disunity, deep-seated divisions along ethnic, religious and political lines. If we as Christians cannot agree on everything, can we at least unite around one simple but powerful attitude, The 'Golden Rule,' taught by Jesus? Matthew 7:12 - Therefore, whatever you would have men do unto you, do also unto them--for this is the law and the prophets. Imagine a nation where leaders and citizens alike practiced this rule. It would revolutionize our politics, communities, workplaces and families. Where peace does not exist, then the opposite should be expected. But as christians we should frown at this; both in the family and the society at large.
