Making plans is something I suck at. When I make plans to do something, I mostly don’t go through with the plan. I work better with enough information at hand. I make plans, yes, but these plans could change anytime with any impulsive feeling I have at the time to execute such a plan. The best way I function is working with enough information, so I make plans towards events and happenings, but usually, when the plan is in motion, I go with the flow.
I will usually make plans for something, how to go on with the plan, where to execute, leaving out when to execute the plans until I feel the impulse to do it. This helps me to save time on research since I will have the information I need when I need it. I know that I want to do this in the future, I plan the necessary and the required and when it is okay to execute, I execute. Working with the flow helps me stay more creative and analytical; it keeps me sharp and allows me to be flexible in what I do.
When I have something to write, for instance, I just try to know what I want to write about and then give myself some time to think about the topic, and as soon as am thought, I sit down and write as the flow comes to my head, this way I find it easier to write whatever it is I have to write rather than having a long preparation and planning towards it. When I feel hungry, whatever comes to my mind is what I will look for and eat; rather than having a planned schedule for what and when to eat, I eat anything, and anytime I feel like eating.
When I plan, it's usually when it has to be a financial decision, having to budget my income and also my expenditure. Yes, I might be impulsive with spending sometimes, but it is usually budgeted as miscellaneous among my expenditures. Planning my expenditures and how I navigate my income is a safety measure for my life. It helps me live a peaceful life, knowing what I can do and how I can do it when it comes to expenses. How I spend my money is really important to me, and a structure to that effect will save me a lot of headspace. If I have a budget for something, I know that I cannot spend above a certain amount, so I will avoid humiliating myself.
Planning actually helps us stay organised, it helps us know how to manage our time, and better use our resources. Planning helps people get good results in whatever thing that they do. A good plan will help one save time, using only sufficient time on any task, preventing one from putting in too much time. It will also help one to manage resources, preventing wastage, since everything has been planned for, it will remove the gap for waste.
