Good day. Today I show you the timelapse video of my emotional drawing titled:
Unconditional

Disfrutarán el video de la realización del dibujo que fue un encargo de un amigo. Muchas veces solamente apreciamos el resultado final de la obra pero hoy, les brindo la oportunidad de apreciar lo que pocos ven, el proceso.

Fue un dibujo complicado porque tenía que dibujar en una hoja pequeña( tamaño A4 )a sus padres con él y sumarle un planeta. También hacía rato que no dibujaba varias personas en una obra y un encargo con familiares fallecidos (sus padres) era todo un reto para mí. Y aunque en el video, dibujar parezca algo fácil, fue un trabajo difícil pero valió la pena porque mi amigo Arián Valdés quedó agradecido y conmovido con el dibujo. El amor familiar, es eterno.

It was a complicated drawing because I had to fit his parents and him on a small sheet (A4 size) and add a planet. It had also been a while since I last drew several people in one piece, and a commission involving deceased family members (his parents) was quite a challenge for me. And although in the video drawing may seem easy, it was actually difficult work—but it was worth it, because my friend Arián Valdés was grateful and deeply moved by the artwork. Family love is eternal

Lamentablemente no pude grabar la parte inicial del dibujo por los queridos apagones. La parte inicial de la obra es la cuadrícula que hago para hacer retratos o figuras humanas para garantizar el parecido. Siempre comienzo realizando trazos claros y progresivamente, voy bajando( oscureciendo) los valores tonales, creando contrastes, volúmenes, texturas y detalles que enriquecen el dibujo.

Unfortunately, I was not able to record the initial part of the drawing due to the frequent power outages. The first stage of the artwork is the grid I make for portraits or human figures to ensure likeness. I always begin with light strokes and progressively lower (darken) the tonal values, creating contrasts, volumes, textures, and details that enrich the drawing.

El dibujo de las figuras humana no me dio mucho trabajo pero el rostro de la madre, gracias a Dios, a medida que iba dibujando me daba cuenta de errores e iba corrigiendo, por su rostro estuve a punto de comenzar de nuevo el dibujo.Tengo que dar gracias también a la goma moldeable, con otra goma no lo hubiese logrado. La goma moldeable ( parece una plastilina) te permite borrar y no daña la hoja, solo borra el grafito, otras gomas borran el grafito pero dañan una pequeña capa de la hoja lo que hace que cuando dibujes en una zona borrada, se vea más oscura porque la textura( relieve) de la hoja, en esa zona cambió.

The drawing of the human figures did not give me much trouble, but the mother’s face—thank God—as I kept drawing, I noticed mistakes and corrected them. Because of her face, I was close to starting the drawing all over again. I also have to give thanks to the kneaded eraser; with another eraser I wouldn’t have achieved it. The kneaded eraser (it looks like modeling clay) allows you to erase without damaging the paper—it only removes the graphite. Other erasers do remove the graphite, but they also damage a thin layer of the paper, which makes any area you draw on afterward look darker, because the texture (relief) of the paper in that spot has changed.

Posteriormente comencé a dibujar el planeta y el fondo que primero lo hice con carboncillo, después le pasé pincel y hasta le pasé el dedo. Fue algo experimental pero no me gustó el resultado y terminé rellenando el fondo con grafito 6B. También decidí incluir algún detalle que identificara a los padres fallecidos y ahí les creé alas pero no alas realistas porque no son ángeles celestiales, son los padres de mi amigo con un fortísimo amor incodicional que le dan fuerzas para seguir adelante.

Afterwards, I began to draw the planet and the background, which I first did with charcoal, then brushed over, and even used my finger. It was something experimental, but I didn’t like the result and ended up filling the background with 6B graphite. I also decided to include a detail to represent the deceased parents, so I gave them wings—but not realistic wings, because they are not celestial angels. They are my friend’s parents, with a powerful unconditional love that gives him strength to carry on.

Más tarde comencé a realizar sombras y a retocar algunas partes del claroscuro que hanían perdido valor tonal y a dar los toques finales. Para concluir utilicé la goma moldeable para borrar un poco un espacio en el fondo donde poner mi firma.

Later, I began to add shadows and retouch some parts of the chiaroscuro that had lost tonal value, giving the final touches. To conclude, I used the kneaded eraser to clear a small space in the background where I placed my signature.

To create the drawing I used:

• A4 sheet of paper
• A4 sheet of paper to rest my hand and avoid smudging or damaging the drawing
• HB pencil
• Charcoal
• Pen transformed into a 6B mechanical pencil
• Back part of a pen used as an extender for the 2B pencil
• Kneaded eraser
• Ruler to draw the grid for the human figures

Para realizar el dibujo utilicé:

• hoja de papel A4
• hoja de papel A4 para apoyar la mano y evitar ensuciarla y dañar el dibujo
• lápiz HB
• carboncillo
• bolígrafo transformado en portaminas 6B
• parte posterior de bolígrafo utilizado como extensor de lápiz 2B
• goma moldeable
• regla para realizar la cuadrícula de las figuras humanas
