For quite some time—much longer than I expected—I've had a translation project on hold that I was very excited about at the time: an urban fantasy novel mixed with immortality cultivation. In fact, I had already translated more than 80% of it when I decided to stop.

Of course, there were several reasons. Some were personal and related to time, but my interest also waned somewhat. The story, which showed great promise at the beginning, started to feel repetitive, and its characters—especially the protagonist—lost some of the charisma that had captivated me.

The novel in question is Strongest Abandoned Son (original Chinese title: 最强弃少). It was completed about five years ago, and only recently did it begin to be adapted as a donghua (the term for Chinese comics or animations). However, even that didn't manage to rekindle my desire to continue. So, after thinking about it for a while, I decided it's time to accept that I'll leave it unfinished.

But it's not all pause or goodbye 😌. Actually, this decision comes with a new impetus: I want to start translating another novel, this time shorter, in the style of “Fast Traveler”, with an ending that I find much more satisfying. There's no Spanish translation—at least not as far as I've looked—although I did find an English version that only has 10 chapters translated out of more than 600.

At my usual pace, it wouldn't take me too long to reach that amount by translating directly from Chinese to Spanish and then progressing little by little. So, with renewed enthusiasm, I'll soon be starting this new project.

Sometimes, closing chapters is also a way to keep the passion for what we do alive. And this, without a doubt, is one of those times. ✨📚

Durante un buen tiempo —bastante más del que esperaba— he mantenido en pausa un proyecto de traducción que me entusiasmaba mucho en su momento: una novela de fantasía urbana mezclada con cultivo de inmortalidad. De hecho, ya tenía traducido más del 80% cuando decidí detenerme.

Claro, hubo varios motivos. Algunos fueron cuestiones personales y de tiempo, pero también se fue enfriando un poco mi interés. La historia, que prometía bastante al inicio, empezó a sentirse repetitiva, y sus personajes —especialmente el protagonista— perdieron parte del carisma que me había atrapado.

La novela en cuestión es El hijo abandonado más fuerte (Strongest Abandoned Son, título original chino: 最强弃少). Se terminó de publicar hace unos cinco años, y hasta hace poco comenzó a adaptarse como donghua (el término para los cómics o animaciones chinas). Sin embargo, ni eso logró despertar mis ganas de continuar. Así que, después de pensarlo un tiempo, decidí que es momento de aceptar que la dejaré inconclusa.

Pero no todo es pausa o despedida 😌. En realidad, esta decisión viene acompañada de un nuevo impulso: quiero comenzar la traducción de otra novela, esta vez más corta, dentro del estilo de “Viaje Rápido”, con un final que me resulta mucho más satisfactorio. No existe traducción al español —al menos hasta donde he buscado—, aunque sí encontré una versión en inglés que apenas lleva 10 capítulos traducidos de más de 600.

Según mi ritmo habitual, no me tomaría demasiado tiempo alcanzar esa cantidad traduciendo directamente de chino a español y luego avanzar poco a poco. Así que, con entusiasmo renovado, pronto estaré comenzando este nuevo proyecto.
