Creating My Own Splinterlands Card (Summoner - ARCHIVIST OF DISCORD)

THE ARCHIVIST OF DISCORD: CHAOS ON PAPER
Hello to the entire Splinterlands community! Today, inspired by the new Arcane Conclave edition, I decided to try something different. I’m not a professional artist—in fact, I hadn’t picked up a pencil in ages until a few weeks ago—but I wanted to bring to life an idea that had been on my mind: a summoner who can change the rules of the game. Here’s my drawing process—it has a few mistakes, but I think it turned out well in the end. Made with lots of love!
Card Statistics
Nombre: Archivist of Discord
Type/Rarity: Neutral / Legendary Summoner (inspired by the Arcane Conclave set)
Stats: Cost of Mana: 7
Special Ability - Alternative Chronicle: This powerful ability allows the Archivist to alter the reality of the battlefield just before combat begins, replacing an active ruleset with a completely random one. Perfect for disrupting the enemy's strategy!
History and Lore
Long before the cataclysm known as "The Fracture," there was an order of scribes whose task was to record every event in Praetoria. The Archivist of Discord was the most brilliant among them, but his mind snapped after seeing visions of the end of time. He awoke after centuries of slumber. He has come not only to write history, but to erase the paragraphs he dislikes, and to rewrite the laws of physics as he pleases. To him, the War of the Splinters is nothing more than a draft in need of drastic changes.
Step-by-Step Creation Process
Step 1: Initial sketch

I started with very basic shapes. As you can see, I made the head and body circular, but they turned out a little too big. The lines are very soft because I was afraid of making a mistake too early on. The archivist looks more like a ghost than a scribe for now.

Step 2: Defining shapes

Here I pressed down harder with the pencil. I got a little carried away, and ended up with some double lines because I wasn’t happy with the angle of the arm. You can tell that getting the proportions of the hands right is a challenge for me, but here’s my attempt at an undead warrior! I’m still learning from the line drawings, but I’m trying to figure it all out. It might just be a character made up by a player like me, but I’m really excited about it.

Step 3: The mess of the draft

I tried to fix some parts of the face and... Well, I ended up covering the page with those gray eraser crumbs. I also smudged the paper a bit; I ran my hand over the graphite. Beginner’s mistakes! Even so, the design seemed pretty simple to me, and honestly, given his skill, I felt he needed to add an extra touch to that character. That’s why you see a sort of robot in the background—it’s the one that can change things on the battlefield every time he writes.

Step 4: Inking with a steady hand

To make it easier to see, I used a black pen. My hand isn't the steadiest, so some of the lines deviate from the original pencil sketch. There are a couple of ink smudges where the pen touched the paper, but I don't think that's a problem, since I want the letter to have even more impact, and I want it to be of the "Neutral" element and, of course, include their "real name."

Step 5: Color and hand-lettering

I pulled out my old colored pencils. I didn't worry too much about the edges, and there's almost no shading, but I wanted to bring it to life. I placed the Splinter Neutral symbol and the "7" mana cost by hand, with slightly messy but not ugly lettering; it also looks like the Archivist himself might have scribbled it down in a hurry. I was just imagining things, but the reality is that it looks much better in color, even though it turned out to be more complicated than I thought—but I like the result.

Step 6: The final frame

Finally, I tried to sketch the frame for the Conclave Arcana edition. I drew the ability icons very simply, but I included quite a few of them because I wanted to create a representation of what modern summoners are like. But the one that matters is the one in the middle—the one with the book—which is "Alternative Chronicle." The paper ended up with a couple of smudges; I’ll be more careful next time, but I like how it turned out. It’s not really from “Conclave Arcana,” but it could be an interesting card—what do you think?
