Since elementary school, Stuart had struggled to learn like the other children; it could be said he was swimming against the current. While the other kids absorbed the lessons with ease, he lived in his own mental universe.
He was the type of student who would stare absently out the window and had trouble paying attention in math class. He imagined distant worlds while numbers tangled in his mind like a puzzle missing pieces.
His constant academic failures made him an easy target in class. The other kids mercilessly mocked him every time the teacher handed back tests, as he was always the one who failed.
Stuart lowered his head sadly, convinced that his destiny was to be forever mediocre.
However, one day he surprised everyone; everything changed during history class, which was about the Industrial Revolution.
When the teacher began talking about steam engines, locomotives, and factories, something clicked in Stuart’s mind. He didn’t see boring dates; he saw gigantic gears building the progress of modernity.
On exam day, the teacher smiled and announced the highest grade. Against all odds, the best student in the class was Stuart.
