Hola amigos de la comunidad de Música, me alegra estar nuevamente por aquí. Saben que siempre me ha gustado compartir con ustedes parte de mi pasión por la música y los descubrimientos que hago en internet. Mi hermana tiene un gran amor hacia la música también, y últimamente me he enganchado con el grupo Twenty One Pilots. Ya ellos tienen bastante tiempo en el ámbito musical, tienen varios álbumes y he escuchado canciones de cada uno de ellos. Más que todo las canciones que mi hermana me ha colocado y que me han encantado. Me impresiona que antes no le hubiera prestado atención a este grupo, porque son maravillosos escribiendo sus letras y también con el ritmo de cada uno de sus temas musicales.

Hello, friends in the Music community, I’m delighted to be back here. You know I’ve always enjoyed sharing with you some of my passion for music and the discoveries I make online. My sister is also a huge music fan, and recently I’ve become hooked on the band Twenty One Pilots. They’ve been around for quite a while in the music scene, have released several albums, and I’ve listened to tracks from each of them. Mostly the songs my sister has played for me, which I’ve loved. It amazes me that I hadn’t paid any attention to this band before, because they’re brilliant at writing their lyrics and also with the rhythm of each of their tracks.

Para darles un pequeño resumen del grupo, está conformado por dos miembros Tyler y Josh. Tyler es quien lleva la voz principal en las canciones y además toca diferentes instrumentos musicales, Josh es quien se encarga de la batería. Ambos se complementan muy bien pues Tyler es más social, es quien siempre tiene algo divertido que hacer o decir y Josh es más tranquilo, pero le da vida a todas las canciones con su fuerza y pasión a la hora de tocar la batería. Ambos se conocieron desde muy jóvenes y empezaron el proyecto como un grupo, decidiendo llamarse Twenty One Pilots y darle vida a todas aquellas ideas creativas que representan lo que son como banda y también lo que generan en sus fans, que se llegan a sentir sumamente identificados con sus canciones y siento que son muy humanos por lo que transmiten en su música.

To give you a brief overview of the band, it consists of two members: Tyler and Josh. Tyler is the lead singer and also plays various instruments, whilst Josh is the drummer. The two complement each other very well: Tyler is more outgoing, always having something fun to do or say, whilst Josh is more laid-back, yet he brings all the songs to life with his energy and passion when playing the drums. They’ve known each other since they were very young and started the project as a band, deciding to call themselves Twenty One Pilots and bring to life all those creative ideas that represent who they are as a band and also what they inspire in their fans, who really identify with their songs and feel that they’re very human because of what they convey through their music.

La mayor parte de su discografía está enfocada en temas muy personales de Tyler y Josh, desde la soledad que se puede sentir como ser humano, la sensación de búsqueda de propósito, el deseo de un cambio ante la sensación de no desear vivir sufriendo, el confort de lo que puede decirse en una canción y que muchas personas se puedan llegar a sentir menos solos y con la compañía de sus letras y sus sonidos. Me gusta este grupo porque tienen canciones muy variadas y hay sonidos que agregan a sus temas que son inesperados pero que quedan increíblemente bien cuando escuchas las canciones. Y por supuesto, me encanta que puedan cantar desde su lado más vulnerable y humano, eso hace que te sientas más cercano a su música y también que puedas encontrar un refugio seguro cuando las cosas no vayan bien.

Most of their discography focuses on very personal themes for Tyler and Josh, ranging from the loneliness one can feel as a human being, the search for purpose, the desire for change in the face of a life filled with suffering, to the comfort that can be found in a song – and the fact that many people might feel less alone and find solace in their lyrics and sounds. I like this band because they have a wide variety of songs, and there are sounds they add to their tracks that are unexpected but work incredibly well when you listen to the songs. And of course, I love that they can sing from their most vulnerable and human side; that makes you feel closer to their music and also allows you to find a safe haven when things aren’t going well.

Entre las canciones que más me gustan están Trees, Next Semester, Backslide, Snap Back, RAWFEAR, Routines In The Night, Shy Away, Tear In My Heart, Stressed Out, Heavydirtysoul. Trees habla acerca de estar en un lugar rodeado de árboles, sabiendo que hay alguien dentro del mismo con el que deseas hablar pero no consigues más que silencio. Esta canción está considerada como una de las primeras en ser identificadas por la banda, la usan en ocasiones para cerrar sus conciertos y habla un poco de la fe, ya que ellos siempre tocan este tipo de temas debido a que el vocalista viene de una familia donde su crianza fue muy arraigada a la parte espiritual y religiosa. Por lo que la mayoría de las canciones van de este tipo de temas sin mencionar directamente a Dios. A mi me da una sensación de calma y a la vez me hace sentir vulnerable, como si estuviera yo misma hablando con el creador. Es algo increíble lo que transmite y más que todo te hace sentir que no eres el único buscando esa voz o respuesta ante los desafíos de la vida.

Among my favourite songs are Trees, Next Semester, Backslide, Snap Back, RAWFEAR, Routines In The Night, Shy Away, Tear In My Heart, Stressed Out, Heavydirtysoul. Trees is about being in a place surrounded by trees, knowing there’s someone there you want to talk to but getting nothing but silence in return. This song is considered one of the band’s earliest, they sometimes use it to close their concerts, and it touches a little on faith, as they always tackle these kinds of themes because the lead singer comes from a family where his upbringing was deeply rooted in spirituality and religion. So most of the songs deal with these kinds of themes without directly mentioning God. It gives me a sense of calm and at the same time makes me feel vulnerable, as if I myself were speaking to the Creator. It’s incredible what it conveys, and above all, it makes you feel that you’re not the only one seeking that voice or answer in the face of life’s challenges.

Next Semester fue la primera canción que escuché y me hizo llorar, la canción relata una historia vivida por el propio vocalista que se puede visualizar a través del vídeo musical. Es comenzar de nuevo, como cuando vamos a clases y las cosas no salen bien, queremos dejar todo de lado, sentimos que fracasamos y que ya nada puede cambiar, por eso esperamos hacerlo mejor en el siguiente semestre. Es un mensaje muy poderoso, porque nos motiva a no rendirnos ante los problemas o los fracasos, así lo veo yo, además de que es un mensaje que da un impulso en cualquier circunstancia que estemos viviendo. La realidad es que siempre en la vida podremos volver a comenzar, mientras tengamos las ganas y el propósito de hacerlo, sin importar nuestro pasado o nuestros errores. Me sentí muy identificada con esta canción y siento que es una de mis favoritas de su repertorio musical.

‘Next Semester’ was the first song I heard that made me cry; the song tells a story from the lead singer’s own life, which you can see in the music video. It’s about starting over, like when we go to class and things don’t go well; we want to give up on everything, we feel like we’ve failed and that nothing can change, so we hope to do better next semester. It’s a very powerful message, because it motivates us not to give up in the face of problems or failures—that’s how I see it—and it’s a message that gives us a boost whatever circumstances we’re going through. The reality is that in life we can always start over, as long as we have the desire and the determination to do so, regardless of our past or our mistakes. I really identified with this song and I feel it’s one of my favourites from her repertoire.

Shy Away es una de sus canciones más populares dentro de sus álbumes, es bastante movida y mantiene el mensaje de crecer en medio de las dificultades. Según leí Tyler la escribió para su hermano menor quien también es músico y quería seguir el mismo camino, fue como un mensaje para decirle que la vida del entretenimiento puede ser cuesta arriba pero que nunca dejara de luchar por sus sueños ni de perder su propia identidad cuando lograra alcanzar el éxito. Me parece muy bonito que lo hiciera para su hermano y que con su propia experiencia, en vez de negarse a que siguiera este camino que puede ser tan difícil, lo impulsara a seguir sus sueños sin importar lo que pueda suceder. Es una canción que me levanta el ánimo al momento de escucharla y tal vez nunca me canse de hacerlo, es muy chévere.

‘Shy Away’ is one of his most popular tracks across his albums; it’s quite upbeat and conveys a message about growing up amidst adversity. From what I’ve read, Tyler wrote it for his younger brother, who is also a musician and wanted to follow the same path. It was a message to him, telling him that life in show business can be an uphill struggle, but that he should never stop fighting for his dreams or lose his own identity once he achieves success. I think it’s lovely that he did that for his brother and that, drawing on his own experience, rather than discouraging him from following this path—which can be so difficult—he encouraged him to pursue his dreams no matter what might happen. It’s a song that lifts my spirits whenever I listen to it, and I might never tire of doing so; it’s really cool.

Por supuesto el grupo tiene una historia como tal, donde todo tiene una secuencia y sus propios significados pero no he llegado a entender del todo la historia ya que solo estoy empezando a escucharlos, pero me encanta la manera tan original de crear sus canciones y permitirse escribir sobre sus propios miedos y también alegrías. Estoy disfrutando mucho de lo que he conocido de Twenty One Pilots y siento que es un grupo tan bueno como cualquier otro con más trayectoria, solo hay que escuchar las canciones con atención ya que todas tienen algo importante con lo que te puedes quedar. Of course, the band has a narrative of its own, where everything follows a sequence and has its own meanings, but I haven’t quite grasped the story yet as I’m only just starting to listen to them; however, I love the highly original way they create their songs and allow themselves to write about their own fears as well as their joys. I’m really enjoying what I’ve discovered about Twenty One Pilots and I feel they’re just as good as any other band with a longer track record; you just have to listen to the songs carefully as they all have something important to offer.
