I Don’t Usually Follow Trends… But Pilates Helped Me Rebuild My Core
I’m not usually someone who falls for trends. Whether it’s padel, matcha, or the Stanley cup hype, I tend to stay on the outside of whatever everyone is suddenly obsessed with. So when Pilates started popping up everywhere, I was skeptical.
But I was also at a point where I needed to rebuild my core.
Between time constraints and a busy schedule, the idea of going to the gym at midnight just wasn’t realistic. I needed something I could do at home something effective, but also sustainable.
I had tried yoga, and while it was great for relaxation and flexibility, it didn’t quite challenge me in the way I wanted. Strength training works, and it works fast—but I was looking for something that combined strength and control. Something that built muscle while still improving flexibility.
That’s when I gave Pilates a real chance.
And honestly? It turned out to be exactly what I was looking for.
What Makes Pilates Different
Developed by Joseph Pilates, Pilates focuses on controlled movements, proper alignment, and deep muscle engagement. It’s not just about looking strong it’s about being strong from the inside out.
At first glance, it can look easy. Slow movements, simple positions… nothing too intense.
But once you actually try it, you realize very quickly it’s not easy at all.
How Pilates Actually Builds Core Strength
It targets deep, often ignored muscles
It’s all about control, not speed
It forces you to stay present
It’s low-impact but still challenging
Pilates might be trending right now but for once, I get the hype.
It’s not about quick results or intense, exhausting workouts. It’s about building a strong foundation, improving how your body functions, and developing strength that actually lasts.
If you’re looking for something that sits between yoga and strength training something that challenges you without overwhelming you pilates might surprise you.
