Aunque Argentina vista desde otras latitudes se relaciona con algunos íconos en particular, muchos de los que venimos acá nos topamos con la sorpresa de que entre los locales, no necesariamente son los mismos con los que se distinguen fuera del país. Un ejemplo clásico, que para mi fue un choque, es que afuera el tango es el ritmo con el que asociamos a esta nación, pero acá, muy pocos son los que conocen cómo bailarlo, y prefieren la cumbia, o algún otro ritmo, pero tango no.
Mafalda, la eterna niña controversial, dio paso a Gaturro y a Samba, el niño de primaria que nos lleva a conocer la historia argentina con sus aventuras junto a próceres y protagonistas de los eventos resaltantes de la época de independencia.
Los equipos de fútbol, no son solo Boca Junior y River Plate, que son los más escuchados, pero conozco un montón de gente que sigue a otras oncenas, y la verdad es que también llenan stadiums y tienen el sistema de afiliados para sus seguidores. No sé si en Venezuela tendrán esto, pero el que mis conocidos paguen por una membresía solo por ir a ver partidos, ya es algo atípico para mi.
No soy de Boca, ni de River, lo peor es que no puedo decir que soy independiente, porque ese club también ¡existe!
Y hablando sobre fútbol, en lo que respecta a la figura de Maradona y Messi, la tenemos en todos lados, son como una barajita repetida y los dioses de la cancha, pero también hay otros bastante populares, no sé si antes del último mundial ya lo eran, pero para muchos, sobre todo luego de la publicidad del Dibu Martínez, el arquero de la oncena albiceleste, han agarrado fama fuera de las canchas.
Ni que decir de la Scaloneta, el apodo del director técnico que llevó a la selección nacional a ganar su tercer mundial de este deporte.
Pero en estos días me encontré con este mural que tiene a varios íconos culturales de Argentina, ¿serán capaces de reconocer quienes son? Yo solo reconocí a 3 de ellos.
Sobre el asunto del mate, no voy a comentar para no herir susceptibilidades, solo diré que en el mercado hay tantas marcas, modelos y sabores, que decir cuál es el autóctono, puro y original, traería un debate de nunca acabar, y honestamente, discutir con un argentino, es esperar que los dioses reconozcan que están equivocados, jajaja.
Although Argentina, as seen from abroad, is associated with certain icons, many of us who come here are surprised to find that, among the locals, these aren’t necessarily the same things that the country is known for outside its borders. I don’t know if they have this in Venezuela, but the fact that people I know pay for a membership just to go and watch matches is quite unusual to me.
I’m not a Boca fan, nor a River fan, and the worst thing is that I can’t say I’m an Independent fan, because that club actually exists!

But recently I came across this mural featuring several of Argentina’s cultural icons – will you be able to recognise who they are? I only recognised three of them.
As for the matter of mate, I won’t comment so as not to offend anyone; I’ll just say that there are so many brands, varieties and flavours on the market that trying to say which is the authentic, pure and original one would spark a never-ending debate, and honestly, arguing with an Argentine is like waiting for the gods to admit they’re wrong, ha ha ha.
