Hello, dear book-loving friends, it is a pleasure for me to share a new post with this wonderful community. On this occasion, I’d like to introduce you to another book that encourages us to reflect on attachment and emotional well-being: “Detachment without Anaesthesia” by Walter Riso, a clinical psychologist and specialist in cognitive therapy, whose aim is to promote healthy lifestyles across all aspects of life through his books.

In the book Letting Go Without Anaesthesia, reference is made to attachment, one of the worst-known psychological conditions that leads to severe emotional dependence. This is why people suffering from attachment tend to surrender their autonomy and independence for fear of losing the person who dominates their mind.
The author provides some tools to help tackle or avoid attachment, to prevent people from losing themselves and remaining in the shadow of their partner, trapped and without a will of their own.
The book also highlights the importance of emotional intelligence, which lays the foundations for living with a healthy mind and in freedom.

The author emphasises that we must not become obsessed with anything or anyone. If we live in a state of obsession with someone whose presence we feel is indispensable, it means we are trapped by that circumstance.
This attachment may be to a person, a thing or a situation; whatever the case, it prevents us from living life to the full and thus disconnects us from our reality. Walter Riso sees attachment as a psychological addiction rooted in fears and insecurities, which can gradually lead to a loss of identity and even of sanity itself.
Letting go is by no means an easy process. The very act of bringing about internal and radical changes in the way we think and view life can become very painful. Through introspection, one can achieve personal transformation and an awakening to reality.

This makes us reflect on changing the way we view life. Giving true meaning to our existence, allowing all that is good to flourish within us. By building on our strengths and virtues, we will be able to see our true worth.
When we decide to let go of dependence and attachment, it brings a sense of well-being. It means taking control of ourselves to regain the autonomy and dignity to move through life without attachments and in freedom. Furthermore, by being in tune with yourself, you will attract, like a magnet, people who are on the same vibrational frequency as you.
I hope you enjoyed the book I’ve shared with you today, Letting Go Without Anaesthesia by Walter Riso. I look forward to seeing you next time when I bring you another of my favourite books.
