Oranges In Oil Pastel

Hello, how are you? I've been on a hiatus from making art for the past few weeks now, and I told myself today that it should stop. Luckily, oil pastel saved me from the brink of art block again. The story behind this art is that my mom bought oranges a few weeks ago, and I tasted one, and it is the sweetest and juiciest orange I have ever tasted, so I grabbed three of them for photo reference in the future if I wanted to draw or paint again, and here I am editing what I documented LOL.
Materials I Used:
- Paper
- Oil Pastel
- Tissue
- Scraping Tool
Let's Draw!
I make sure all the materials I need are in easy-access parts so that I can draw freely and with less stress.
And then using the red shade, I draw the proportions of the orange with light pressure and just do it with the flow, don't worry about detail, trust me. I layer that sketch with the same oil pastel, but this time I outline with more pressure.
I like to block the color I am going to use by layering it lightly into the drawing, and then I color the background just lightly.
In this part, I start building the shades of the orange and start blocking the shadows and highlights.
To avoid confusion, I start rendering one by one. I start with the unpeeled orange. Next is the half-peeled one. I like to start blocking the shadows first and one by one, getting lighter.
Next is the peeled orange, so whenever I see something I need to improve on the previous orange, I like to return and correct that part.
And finally, the peel of the third orange.
I almost forgot to add the texture of the drawing, so I used this clay tool as my scratching tool.
Close-up shot, I always think adding texture makes everything unique.
Mixing the Pentel and Crayola is the best decision I made. I like how Crayola created texture when I pressed it hard to draw, and the opaqueness of the two is so good.
Photoshoot for a moment.
Thank you for visiting, see you on my next blog. :D
Please take care of your mental health as well.
I hope you are okay today :))
