This week's ZAPFIC Monday challenge centers around the prompt "major". At first thought, the word implies something of utmost importance and highly likely to be taken seriously. The word is in direct contrast to the concept of something or someone being of no consequence.
In life, individuals usually respond quickly or make decisions based on whether they deem an issue to be highly important and act accordingly if they deem the circumstances of benefit or harm. I share a flash fiction story along those lines.

My story is below:
Fascinated, the son read on, hoping for a favorable outcome.
He jerked back when his father, Pvt. Ruben, descended the hillside unaware of the danger ahead.

El reto ZAPFIC de este lunes gira en torno al tema «importante». A primera vista, la palabra sugiere algo de suma importancia y que, con toda probabilidad, se tomará en serio. El término contrasta directamente con el concepto de algo o alguien que carece de importancia.
En la vida , las personas suelen reaccionar rápidamente o tomar decisiones en función de si consideran que un asunto es muy importante, y actúan en consecuencia si estiman que las circunstancias son beneficiosas o perjudiciales. Comparto un relato breve en esa línea.

Se echó hacia atrás de un sobresalto cuando su padre, el soldado Rubén, bajaba por la ladera sin darse cuenta del peligro que le acechaba.
Un cambio radical en la estrategia por parte de su capitán.
Unas notas secretas revelaban su valentía a pesar de todo.
