As the Venezuelan poet Eugenio Montejo once said, “Trees speak little, as we know.” But their presence speaks to us of their very being, of their steadfastness, of their accumulated age. This last aspect is one of the things that has always drawn me to trees, perhaps because it offers a tangential way of thinking about ourselves—and about me, in particular. I took these photos of an old tree, still standing, in Ayacucho Park in Cumaná (Venezuela).

Thank you for the attention.
