Enduring Beauty (A Poetic Exercise for World Art Day)
April 15th was officially designated by UNESCO as World Art Day as a means of keeping alive in humanity's memory the immense value of the art of Leonardo da Vinci, who was born on that date in 1452.
On previous occasions, I dedicated two pieces of microfiction to this genius of art (as well as of invention and science): @josemalavem/soliloquio-davinciano-microficcion-or-davincian-soliloquy-microfiction" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">1 and @josemalavem/mas-que-una-mirada-microficcion" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">2. Now, I have sought to honor him with a modest poetic exercise.
Voluptuous female form sinuous and delightful the embodied shape of art desired as Zeus desired Leda
Though beauty is perishable within the pleasurable flesh it endures in the imagination which brushes and recreates it
In his hands and gaze the artist possesses her transcending her finitude in colors, words, and signs so as not to die but to live on in history
