Guilty pleasure
Greetings, Hive friends. Today I treated myself to a tasting menu that combined diverse flavors, from wine and chocolate to a street burger. I tried the Taita de Montes, a wine with character, quite expressive, that feels like an intense conversation. Then came the Caymus Zinfandel, more enveloping, with sweet and spicy notes that make it dangerously easy to enjoy. The Saldo Red Blend was that perfect middle ground: balanced, modern, with personality but without being overwhelming. Between sips, a chocolate appeared as a pause and a contrast, further highlighting the nuances of each glass.
Saludos, amigos de Hive. Hoy me di un gusto que combinó sabores distintos desde un vino, chocolate y hasta una hamburguesa callejera. Probé el Taita de Montes, un vino con carácter, bastante expresivo, que se siente como una conversación intensa. Luego vino el Caymus Zinfandel, más envolvente, con notas dulces y especiadas que lo hacen peligrosamente fácil de disfrutar. El Saldo Red Blend fue ese punto medio perfecto: equilibrado, moderno, con personalidad pero sin abrumar. Entre sorbo y sorbo, un chocolate apareció como pausa y contraste, resaltando aún más los matices de cada copa.
Then came the Argentinian wines from Kaiken: the elegant Aventura Chacayes, with a structure that commands your attention, and the Aventura Valle de Canota, a bit wilder, more mineral, as if it carried the landscape within it. Two wines that feel distinct yet connected by the same intention to explore. It's interesting how, even without being an expert, the palate begins to notice differences, to recognize what it likes and what it doesn't.
Después llegaron los argentinos de Kaiken: el Aventura Chacayes, elegante, con esa estructura que te hace prestar atención, y el Aventura Valle de Canota, un poco más salvaje, más mineral, como si llevara el paisaje dentro. Dos vinos que se sienten distintos pero conectados por una misma intención de explorar. Es interesante cómo, incluso sin ser experta, el paladar empieza a notar diferencias, a reconocer lo que le gusta y lo que no.
And like any experience, none of this was out of place at a perfect table: I finished with a street burger, one of those that doesn't ask permission but is worth every penny. Because in the end, it's not about doing it "right," but about enjoying it. Today was about that: mixing the refined with the everyday, learning a little more about what I like, and confirming that pleasure also lies in not overcomplicating things.
Y como toda experiencia, nada de esto estuvo alejado en una mesa perfecta: cerré con una hamburguesa callejera, de esas que no piden permiso pero lo valen todo. Porque al final, no se trata de hacerlo “correcto”, sino de disfrutarlo. Hoy fue eso: mezclar lo fino con lo cotidiano, aprender un poco más de lo que me gusta y confirmar que el placer también está en no complicarse tanto.
