Scans of the Latest Blond Cards
I've just finished scaning the latest batch of Blond Cards numbers 408 to 751, by my calculations.
I think it's 751. There were 407 and this batch has 343, so whatever it is. New characters in this batch include Makwafilms The Elephants Head and The Blue Cap. The last two are bars/ music venues in Camden. The Blue Cap is a drag queen bar recently re-opened after a long campaign by its old punters. A lot of pubs and venues are closing in the UK these days. Amy is another new one. Amy Winehouse, who is now a music legend in Camden and has a statue near Maddarings, the only shop in Camden Market currently selling Blond Cards. I say "selling", they've had them over a week now and haven't sold any. £5 each for an original painting. They'll queue round the block for a £12 hamburger. I recently learned that both Amy Winehouse and I were at an early Arctic Monkeys gig, before both they and she got famous. My music career took a different direction, but it was a super small venue so there's a chance we may have briefly met. Other new Blond Cards include Blurt and Steemit portraits with customised @jompiy or @ronthroop or @offgridlife written on them. These will have different labelling to the others. The Blond Card series is my most popular at The Camden Market Free Art Man. There are some new series in development: Paintings based on @offgridlife fantastic claymation videos a series of Anarchy for Art paintings, based on a manifesto I posted here yesterday and some others I can't think of right now.
The Blond Card scans are done eight to a page. I don't have time to do them individually and can only fit eight on my scanner. They'll go into a printed catalogue at some point. I scan them before gluing them to cardboard. Here's a few:
Speaking of labels, I wrote a load of new ones last night. The factory workflow is slowly getting organised although my storage system is a frustrating and time consuming mess. Hopefully this week of being too wet for Camden will give me a chance to have a mass tidy up of my studio and surrounding house:
