Here, the mornings are hazy, not quite fog, but more like a whitish veil floating over the town. This is accompanied by noticeable humidity and a higher-than-expected temperature in the early hours. These are the days when the dry season seems to be ending and the rainy season beginning. On days like these, the town is perhaps slower, or maybe it's just my perception. But whatever the reason, these are days when it's quite pleasant to wander aimlessly, and of course, to take some photos that capture the atmosphere of this "Montalbán in mid-April." And that's what I did today when I left my usual streets behind and made a brief foray into a neighborhood called "Las Matícas," where the paved streets end abruptly and for a few meters you cross a dirt road surrounded by wire fences and bushes. This is something I think only happens in these small towns, because it's as if you suddenly stumble upon a rural patch within the town itself, and then, after walking a bit along the dirt road, everything becomes a little more urban again, and the normal streets "appear" without any warning. And well, that's what this photo sequence I've brought you today to share here on #Hive is all about...

Aquí las mañanas están teniendo bruma, de esa que no es niebla sino como una especia de paño blanquecino flotando sobre el pueblo, y esto ocurre con humedad perceptible y una temperatura más alta de lo esperado en horas tempranas. Así son estos días en los que parece terminar la temporada seca y comenzar la de lluvias. Y en días así el pueblo es quizás más lento, o puede que sea yo quien lo perciba así. Pero sea como sea, son días en los que es bastante bueno y deambular sin rumbo fijo, y obviamente hacer algunas fotos que permitan registrar el ambiente de ese "Montalbán de mediados de Abril". Y eso fue lo que hice hoy cuando dejé atrás mis calles cotidianas y terminé haciendo una breve incursión en un vecindario llamado "Las Matícas" en el cual las calles asfaltadas terminan abruptamente y durante unos cuantos metros se atraviesa un camino de tierra rodeado de alambradas y arbustos. Esto es algo que creo solo ocurre en estos pueblo pequeños, pues es como si de repente uno se topase con un pedazo campestre dentro del mismo pueblo y luego, después de caminar un poco por el camino de tierra, todo se volviese nuevamente un poco más urbano nuevamente y "apareciesen" las calles normales sin aviso alguno. Y bien, así es esta secuencia fotográfica que les traje hoy para compartir aquí en #Hive...

It was so easy to go unnoticed today that I think that's why I took more photos than usual on a relatively short walk like this (the round trip was no more than about 4 kilometers and I completed it in just over 90 minutes...

Fue tan fácil pasar desapercibido hoy, que creo que fue debido a eso que hice más fotos que de costumbre en una caminata relativamente breve como esta (el recorrido de ida y vuelta no fue mayor a unos 4 kilómetros y lo completé en poco más de 90 minutos...

And the very fact of feeling somewhat "transparent" to people today made me take more relaxed photos, though certainly less intimate. I don't know, I think it's like many street photographers, who perceive that some days the environment lends itself to a certain type of simpler photos, while other days, when there's a chance to interact with people, are more conducive to it. Today, by all accounts, was one of those days when I was just "me observing," without influencing anything, I suppose...

Y el mismo hecho de sentirme hoy un poco como "transparente" para las personas, me hizo tomar fotos más distendidas, aunque ciertamente menos intimas. No sé, creo que a mi me pasa como a muchos fotógrafos callejeros, que perciben que un día el entorno está como para cierto tipo de fotos más simplistas que otros día, en los cuales hay la factibilidad de interactuar con la gente. Hoy, a todas luces, fue uno de esos días en las que solo fui "yo observando" sin influir, supongo...

As you can see, I also included in this sequence some photos I took on the way back to the paved streets of the town after crossing that area called "Las Matícas," and I did this with the intention that you too might perceive the curious charm of that contrast between the rural and the urban, which occurs in a somewhat abrupt or unexpected way if you don't live here and know this...

Como pueden ver, también incluí en esta secuencia algunas fotos que hice de regreso a las calles pavimentadas del pueblo luego de atravesar ese espacio llamado "Las Matícas", e hice esto con la intención de que ustedes también perciban el curioso encanto que tiene ese contraste entre lo rural y lo urbano ocurriendo así de manera un tanto abrupta o inesperada si no se vive aquí y se conoce esto...
