It rained in the valley last night; we've had a couple of relatively heavy downpours these last few days. And then the old folks in town start saying that the rainy season is beginning, and some people in the countryside even start plowing the land to plant seeds after clearing it during the dry season...

And on mornings like this, when it's rained overnight, the town streets wake up more slowly, the dampness leaving its mark on the corners, the walls, and the pavement. Even a walk along the edge of town becomes a visual eloquence, with images appearing unexpectedly and being revealed by that flat, even light, typical of days like this...

Anoche llovió en el valle; hemos tenido ya un par de aguaceros relativamente recios estos últimos días. Y entonces los viejos del pueblo comienzan a decir que ya comienza la temporada de lluvias, e incluso algunas personas en el campo comienzan a arar la tierra para sembrar después de haberla desmontado en los días de sequía...

Y en las mañanas así, cuando ha llovido durante la noche digo, las calles del pueblo despiertan más lento, la humedad deja sus huellas en las esquinas, en las paredes y sobre el pavimento. Incluso, una caminata por los bordes del casco urbano, se convierte en un recital de elocuencia visual, con imágenes ocurriendo de forma inesperada y siendo reveladas por esa luz plana y pareja, típica de los días así...

This is a town with countless nuances, you already know that because you see my photos, but it never ceases to amaze me how it all happens. One moment I'm walking down one street, 70 meters later I'm on a dirt road watching cows in a pasture, and another 70 meters later I'm in a poor neighborhood watching people hang their laundry on the walls facing the street, without them finding it strange at all. And then there's the neighbor who comes up and says, "It's great that the rains have started," and these are the same neighbors who in October will tell me, "I'm fed up with all this rain, I want the drought to come already"... That's how this town is, how it mutates and changes, much to my delight as a witness!

*E**ste es un pueblo con matices por montón, ustedes ya lo saben porque ven mis fotos, pero a mi no me deja de sorprender como esto ocurre. En un momento iba por una calle, 70 metros después estaba en un camino de tierra mirando vacas en un potrero, y otros 70 metros después estaba en un vecindario pobre mirando como la gente cuelga su ropa sobre las paredes que dan hacia la calle, sin que esto les parezca extraño. Y tampoco falta el vecino que se acerca y te dice "que bueno que han comenzado las lluvias", y son los mismos vecinos que Octubre me dirán: "Estoy harto de tanta lluvia, ya quiero que llegue la sequía"... ¡Así este pueblo, así muta y cambia para mi placer como testigo que soy!...
