Hello Everyone!
Staying on schedule, A lethargic day, An early morning trek, Not losing the light & Yang the rooster keeps improving!
Alright, after doing all my late day chores early... I am starting my writing routine more or less on schedule this evening. Having already written a good bit this morning (to make up for missing last night's entry) I am not feeling all that inclined to spell out a lot with this entry... but at least I am staying on track.
There actually is not much to write about, because the day was not all that productive... and I actually napped more than anything else. Between my lame foot injury and eating a really big breakfast (after eating a big dinner late yesterday) I was feeling super lethargic... and more than a little tired of being cooped up indoors the last several days.
I even skipped out on taking any hikes, because super early in the morning (long before dawn) I let the dogs out but only two of the three came back in... and the third one was nowhere to be found. So, after waiting a few more minutes for her to return to no avail... I got some warm clothes on, bundled up in my jacket, grimaced my way through getting my sore foot into its boot... and hiked downhill to look for her.
As I have said before in other entries, there is a 'circuit' that the dogs generally make if (and when) they roam off... and that spot that I went to downhill is basically halfway through that circuit. They also tend to make a beeline for that area, since that is where there is a creek for them to get water from as they tromp around... but since it borders a road it is easy for me to spot them from afar.
Anyways, she never showed up and I wound up 'putzing around' in the dark... trying to stay warm, watching for her up and down the road... and trying not to look like some crazed person to the passing vehicles. I am usually rather patient with the waiting and this morning was no different... except that my foot was aching (from walking down the hill and from standing on it for so long) and I really wanted to get back to the studio.
At one point, I leaned forward to get a better view around a tree (so that I could see further down the road) and my flashlight tumbled from my jacket pocket... directly into the small brier patch that I was standing in. Not even having a phone (or butane lighter) on me... left me feeling around in the dark looking for the flashlight while trying to avoid getting snagged by thorns.
Eventually, I did find the flashlight and was glad that it did not fall just slightly further away than it did... because it would have rolled off the steep embankment and wound up in the ditch beside the road. Once I found it, I had had enough of standing around in the dark... and made the awkward climb back uphill to the studio... where of course the dog was waiting for me at to let her inside!
After that adventure, I was more than a little 'over' the idea of doing anymore walking for the day... but I did still have to let the chickens out (and put them up again), fetch rainwater, walk around with the dogs... and do all the other stuff that I have to do each day. Just thinking about the day ahead was pretty exhausting to me at that point... and I took a frigging nap for a few minutes (after doing the writing) to reset my brain for the remainder of the day ahead.
In other news, Yang (the silkie rooster) has continued to improve and seems to be back to his old self... but maybe a bit depressed about his brother being gone. He has also continued being nicer to Emily the hen... but like I said in a previous entry... she is not so keen on forgetting what an absolute jerk he was before and still avoids him.
Well, I think that I am going to wrap this entry up and get on with the editing and posting portion of my evening. I hope that everyone is doing well. Ciao for now.
