Desire must be balanced

The desire of humans is endless. Instead of it, humans try their best to fulfill their desires as much as possible. I think it is very natural to have desires and try to fulfill them. The desires of people can be different from others, depending on the personality of the person. A recently graduated person desires a job, and a job holder will desire a promotion. After a certain time, the same person will desire to find a good partner, and later, so many other things. It’s like a chain, and once it starts, it will never stop.

The capacity of humans is limited, and they are not capable enough to fulfill all of their desires with this limited capacity. Naturally, it’s necessary to balance them. If we are blindly obsessed with our desires, we may lose our sense of judgment, and we may make many mistakes or take wrong steps to fulfill our desires. If desire were only limited to a few things, then it would not be serious. As it never ends, people make mistakes on a continuous basis, and many times the consequences of their mistakes are not only bound to them. Just imagine the scenarios of the wars of recent times. Those wars are for the desire to dominate others or the desire to show the power of a country. The desire is related to leaders, but the general people of the two countries need to bear the consequences as well, as they need to suffer for it.

So, is desire a bad thing? It’s not actually. Suppose I have the desire to help the people who are poor. Again, I have the desire to do better in life and earn a lot of money for my family. Those are good desires, and those act as a driving force in the lives of people. Whatever I am now and whatever I will be in the future will be the inspiration led by desire. So, those are actually a good thing. So, what can be bad in such a case?

I already said that the desire to earn money is a good thing and pushes me to move forward, but I should not be obsessed with it because if it happens, I may lose my principles in life. And if I become greedy, I will choose to do something illegal for the sake of making money as fast as possible, but it will harm others for sure. In that case, we will be such a person without any bottom line.

So, my thoughts related to desire are quite simple. As long as we can fulfill our desires in a moral and honest way, it’s good. But if we become obsessed with desire and forget the morals of life, and don’t hesitate to harm others, it’s trouble, and we should try to hold ourselves back if such a situation arrives. If we can’t balance it, we are going to bring destruction.
