Loser Panoramastraße In the Austrian Alps [ENG/PL]

In the Austrian region of Salzkammergut, there's an easily accessible viewpoint that offers truly stunning mountain views, accessible by car. Near the town of Altausse, which sits on Lake Altausseer See, rises a peak with a rather interesting name – Loser. The peak itself is over 1,800 meters high, but most importantly, you can drive up to about 1,600 meters by car. This is via the Loser Panoramastraße, which is a scenic road in itself.

There is a fee to use it, but parking at the summit is free.

W austriackim regionie Salzkammergut istnieje pewien łatwo dostępny i oferujący naprawdę piękne, górskie widoki punkt widokowy, do którego można dostać się samochodem. Nieopodal miejscowości Altausse, która mieści się nad jeziorem Altausseer See, ku górze piętrzy się pewien szczyt o dość ciekawej nazwie - Loser. Sam szczyt mieży ponad 1800 metrów, ale najważniejszy jest fakt, że samochodem można wjechać tutaj aż na około 1600 metrów. Odbywa się to za pośrednictwem drogi Loser Panoramastraße, która sama w sobie jest niezwykle widokowa.

Za możliwość korzystania z niej konieczne jest jednak uiszczenie pewnej opłaty, ale sam parking pod szczytem jest już darmowy.

Once you reach the parking lot, simply exit your car, walk to the edge, and enjoy the spectacular mountain views, perfect for landscape photography. Personally, I was blown away when I saw these sweeping panoramas.

In the photo above, you can see the aforementioned lake on the right, slightly below the center of the frame. Unfortunately, it's partially hidden by clouds. On the one hand, these clouds made photography a bit difficult, but on the other, they created a wonderful dramatic effect.

Po dotarciu na parking, wystarczy opuścić samochód, podejść do jego krawędzi i cieszyć się zjawiskowymi, górskimi widokami, które są idealne do fotografii krajobrazowej. Osobiście byłem w wielkim szoku, kiedy zobaczyłem te szerokie panoramy.

Na zdjęciu powyżej możecie zobaczyć wspomniane wyżej jezioro po prawej stronie, lekko poniżej środka kadru. Niestety jest częściowo ukryte w obłokach. Z jednej strony te obłoki utrudniały delikatnie fotografowanie, ale z drugiej utworzyły świetną dramaturgię.

The next photo shows more wonderful landscapes. From here, you can see the Dachstein Mountains, which are the most impressive in this region and very attractive to tourists. This is thanks to the numerous hiking trails and numerous mountain railways that allow access to the beautiful sites nestled within these mountains.

For me, the Dachstein Mountains are one of the greatest discoveries of my several years in Austria. I'm drawn to these mountains. The numerous lakes, peaks, and small but charming villages nestle between them. All of this creates a multitude of diverse opportunities for a landscape photographer.

Na następnym zdjęciu kolejne cudowne krajobrazy. Widać stąd góry Dachstein, które w tym regionie robią największe wrażenie i są turystycznie bardzo atrakcyjne. Dzieje się tak dzięki licznym szlakom turystycznym, ale również i wielu kolejką górskim, które umożliwiają wjazd do pięknych miejsc osadzonych w tych górach.

Dla mnie Dachstein jest jednym z największych odkryć podczas kilkuletniego pobytu w Austrii. Ciągnie mnie do tych gór. Liczne jeziora, szczyty i małe, ale bardzo urokliwe miejscowości leżące gdzieś pomiędzy tymi górami. To wszystko generuje mnogość przeróżnych możliwości dla fotografa krajobrazowego.

From the parking lot, you can, of course, hike to the summit, where, from what I understand, the views are even better. Unfortunately, time didn't allow us to explore the mountain in more detail. Our sightseeing plan was quite extensive, and we had many other places to visit. We spent a lot of time at Lake Altausseer See. I highly recommend this lake as a peaceful place to relax surrounded by mountains and nature.

Take a look at the photo above. Isn't it wonderful that all you have to do is leave your car, take a few steps, and be able to admire such views? And take them with you as an everlasting souvenir in the form of a photograph?

Z parkingu można oczywiście udać się na szczyt, gdzie widoki z tego, co mi wiadomo są jeszcze lepsze. Niestety, nam czas nie pozwolił na dokładniejszą eksplorację tej góry. Plan zwiedzania był bardzo rozbudowany i mieliśmy sporo innych miejsc do zaliczenia. Sporo czasu spędziliśmy nad samym jeziorem Altausseer See. Jezioro też gorąco polecam, jako spokojne miejsce na odpoczynek w otoczeniu gór i natury.

Przyjrzyjcie się zdjęciu powyżej. Czy to nie cudowne, że wystarczy opuścić samochód, zrobić kilkanaście kroków i móc oglądać takie widoki? I zabrać je ze sobą jako wieczną pamiątkę w formie fotografii?

In the next photo, you can once again see a sliver of the lake, nestled within these mountains. Hidden within their towering walls. From this perspective, you experience places you've previously visited from a lower level in a completely different way. This provides greater context and shows that places that seem grand from a different perspective are actually a small part of something much larger. This is precisely the case with towns nestled between different mountain ranges. Each valley between them is a small world, part of a much larger one. Isolated and alive with its own life. Isn't that wonderful?

Na kolejnym zdjęciu ponownie możecie zobaczyć skrawek jeziora, które otulone jest tymi górami. Ukryte w ich wysokich ścianach. Z tej pespektywy zupełnie inaczej odbiera się miejsca, które wcześniej odwiedziło się z niższego poziomu. Daje to lepszy kontekst i pokazuje, że miejsca, które pozornie wydają się wielkie, z innej perspektywy są tak naprawdę niewielką częścią czegoś znacznie większego. Tak właśnie jest z miejscowościami leżącymi pomiędzy różnymi pasmami górskimi. Każda dolina pomiędzy nimi, to mały świat, będący częścią znacznie większego. Odizolowany i żyjący własnym życiem. Czy to nie cudowne?

The last photo shows a section of Loser Panoramastraße winding and climbing up the mountainside. The ride itself is quite fun. I think motorcyclists would have a lot of fun on those curves ;) And photographers would use it to create interesting compositions :)

In the background is the aforementioned Dachstein. In these mountains, there's a large glacier of the same name. It's possible to take a cable car up to the glacier and hike on it. We almost took advantage of this ourselves. However, it's not the cheapest attraction. The price is around 50 euros per person. However, I think we'll visit this glacier someday.

Na ostatnim zdjęciu fragment Loser Panoramastraße wijącej się i wspinającej po zboczu góry. Sama jazda stanowi tu ciekawą zabawę. Myślę, że motocykliści mieliby tutaj sporą frajdę na tych zakrętach ;) A fotografowie wykorzystali by ją do budowy ciekawych kompozycji :)

W tle wspomniany Dachstein. W górach tych istnieje spory lodowiec o tej samej nazwie. Możliwy jest wyjazd kolejką na ten lodowiec i spacer po nim. Niewiele zabrakło, a sami byśmy z tego skorzystali. Atrakcja nie należy jednak do najtańszych. Cena oscyluje w granicach 50 euro za osobę. Myślę jednak, że kiedyś przyjdzie czas, że zawitamy na tym lodowcu.
