Reflections : Survival Tailor
Greetings everyone. The optimistic smile of a Tailor in serving customers. There is a Tailor who is around 70 years old. I come to the Tailor at his seeing kiosk on the side of the road. I happened to want to cut my pants because they were too long.
He told me his life journey as a Tailor, he now rents this place for 400.000,- IDR or around ($23,5) a month for a sewing place. They have been in this place for about Ten years. He started sewing around 1979, at that time he was still young.
Sewing was still with other people, at that time were quite a lot of people who would sew clothes,pants. With the development of shopping centers. And online purchasing systems. Now people prefer to buy clothes such as, shirts,pants and others buy ready-made clothes and buy online.
I asked the Tailor, where does the rent for the stall and other expenses come from?. He replied, lately there are rarely any people sewing clothes or trousers. In a month at most one or two sew clothers.
The rest rely on people who are willing to repair clothes or trousers, can be reduced in size, cut pants, sew Torn or other things. Sometimes the oldest child help sewing. They have three children who are already married.
