Hive Yucatán's upcoming anniversary. / Próximo aniversario de Hive Yucatán. ENG/SPA Information #1

I don’t know if you’ve heard the saying, “If the world ends, I’m heading to Yucatán.” Well, this year we don’t just have that excuse—our community is about to celebrate its first anniversary. We’ve grown gradually because all our onboarding has been one-on-one. We’ve never had a real-life MeetUp, and what better reason to have one than to celebrate this milestone?

That’s why the team—@hiveyucatan, @konchix, and yours truly, @gr33nm4ster—decided to throw a party, but a party inviting all Hive-ians who are in the area or who want to come see how we celebrate in Yucatán.

That celebration will take place in a few months, and we’ve already gotten to work. I’ve talked to some Hive-ian OGs and, taking their advice, we’re starting to build the Web2 presence that Hive Yucatán will have outside of Web3—specifically on Facebook and TikTok, since they’re the most viral platforms. Right now we already have a Facebook page. I know nobody likes Facebook anymore, for many reasons that every Hive-ian is well aware of, but the vast majority of people who now dream of becoming influencers on Facebook are trying to monetize on that social network, and honestly, with content that would be valued more on Hive. With Meta’s centralized system, not only does it put your content at risk in terms of ownership—since Meta itself has been the one actually generating money from those posts since day one—but it also doesn’t give a single cent to the content creator for the goals they ask of you.

No se si han escuchado el dicho: "Si se acaba el mundo me voy a Yucatán", pues este año no solo tenemos ese pretexto, sino que nuestra comunidad esta por celebrar 1 año de estar activa. Hemos crecido paulatinamente porque todo los onboardings han sido persona a persona. Nunca hemos tenido un Meet Up en vida real y que mejor motivo que la celebración de este suceso.

Por eso el equipo de @hiveyucatan @konchix y un servidor @gr33nm4ster nos decidimos a hacer una fiesta, pero una fiesta invitando todos los Hive-ians que estén por la zona o que quieran venir a ver de que manera festejamos en Yucatán.

Ese festejo sucederá en unos meses y ya pusimos manos a la obra, he platicado con algunos Hive-ians OGs y escuchando sus consejos, estamos comenzando a construir el entorno Web2 que tendrá Hive Yucatán fuera de Web3 y serán Facebook y Tik-Tok por ser las mas virales. Ahora mismo ya tenemos el Facebook, lo sé a nadie le gusta Facebook ya, por múltiples razones que todo Hive-ian consiente conoce, pero el grueso de las personas que ahora sueñan con ser influencers en Facebook están intentando monetizar en esa red social y sinceramente con un contenido que en Hive se valoraría mas y que Meta con su sistema centralizado además de que pone en riesgo su contenido en el sentido de pertenecía el que realmente genera dinero por dichas publicaciones es el mismo Meta desde el día 1 y no da ni un centavo al creador del contenido los objetivos que te piden.

We’ll be launching on TikTok soon, and I’ve already reached out to some of my connections—OG content creators in my country who get a lot of traffic on their X Spaces or do live interviews on YouTube. I hope to connect with one of them soon and discuss the project.

We’re looking for content creators in the area who are already producing original, copyright-free content that they haven’t been able to monetize, or who value the true security of their data and content despite their efforts and following all of Facebook’s pesky rules. I know Hive isn’t a solution in that regard, but it’s a means to an end. The goal is to grow the number of creators within Web3 in the area using the ones we already have—meaning those same creators will bring others along.

We’ve started sharing posts from Yucatecan Hive-ians in the Facebook community without paying any advertising fees to Meta, and we’re already seeing very good engagement numbers. I’m using Reels from our HiveFest8 to generate hype, but honestly, we don’t know how far this could go—or if it’ll just be my family, me, and a few friends. In the end, what matters is celebrating.

Our intention isn’t to profit from this celebration but to give Hive a boost from the other end of Mexico. We did this in 2023 on Mexico’s northern border in Rosarito with Hive Fest8, and also in central Mexico with Talent Land in 2024 and 2025.

We thought, why not hold it now in southeastern Mexico? It has more of a Caribbean feel and undoubtedly the best beaches in Mexico, plus Mérida is known as the “White City”—not only because its streets are usually very clean but also because it has one of the lowest crime rates in the entire country.

I don’t know how much it cost to organize the events I mentioned that took place in Mexico, but I’m sure that for much less than what was spent on those, we can put on our own anniversary celebration. That’s why I’m working on a Google form to invite local brands to participate, local speakers who want to take the stage, sponsors, local digital media outlets that want to be media partners, and volunteer staff, all with the goal of a win-win collaboration model. For example: if they want the main stage, they would have to provide the venue; if they want to promote their brands on the stages or screens, they would have to offer something else; or if they want to be mentioned as a main sponsor, they could donate merchandise, etc...

Próximamente comenzaremos ya en Tik-Tok y ya he mandado mensajes a algunas conexiones con personas builders OGs en mi país que tienen mucho trafico en sus Space en X o entrevistas en vivo en YouTube, espero pescar una pronto y platicar del proyecto.

Estamos en busca de Creadores y creadoras de contenido en la zona que ya hagan contenido original y sin problemas copyright que no hayan logrado monetizar o valoren la verdadera seguridad de sus datos y de su contenido a pesar de su esfuerzo y de seguir todas las dichosas reglas de Facebook, se que en eso Hive no es una solución, pero es un medio para la meta, el objetivo es ir creciendo en cantidad de creadores y creadoras dentro de Web3 de la zona con los que ya tenemos o sea que esos mismos vayan jalando a otros.

Hemos comenzado a compartir las publicaciones de los hive-ians yucatecos en la comunidad de Facebook sin pagar nada de publicidad en Meta y ya tenemos muy buenos números en cuanto a interacciones. Estoy usando Reels de muestro HiveFest8 para causar Hype, pero en realidad no sabemos hasta donde podría llegar esto, o si solo seremos mi familia y yo y algunos amigos, al final lo que importa es celebrar.

Nuestra intención no es lucrar con esta celebración sino darle un impulso desde la otra punta de México a Hive lo hicimos en 2023 en la frontera norte de México en Rosarito con el Hive Fest8, también en el centro de México con el Talent land 2024 y 2025.

Nosotros pensamos, porqué no hacerlo ahora en el sureste mexicano? Que tiene mas toque del caribe y sin duda las mejores playas de México, además de conocerse por lo menos la ciudad de Mérida como la ciudad blanca no solo por sus calles normalmente muy limpias sino por su baja taza de delincuencia en todo el país.

No se cuanto haya costado hacer los eventos que mencioné que se efectuaron en México pero estoy seguro que con mucho menos de lo que se gastó en aquellos podemos hacer notros nuestra celebración de aniversario y por eso mismo estoy trabajando en un formulario de Google para invitar marcas locales a participar, Speakers locales que quieran tomar tarima, Sponsors, Medios digitales locales que quieran ser Media Partners, Staff Voluntarios, todo buscando con un modelo de colaboración Win-Win, por ejemplo: si quieren Main stage pues tendrían que dar el local, si quieren promocionar sus marcas en las tarimas o pantallas tendrían que dar alguna otra cosa o quieren que se les mencionen como patrocinador principal la donación de Merch, etc...

That’s the plan we’ve been following so far. We might change course if we receive any support or suggestions, but for now, we’re using that form and the funds coming in from the percentages that active members of the Hive Yucatán community voluntarily designate as beneficiaries to the @hiveyucatan account in their posts. And what we’re accumulating, we’re converting to BTC via DCA thanks to V4V.app, so that on the day of the celebration—or as it approaches—we can decide whether it’s better to sell that BTC or take out a loan against it, to have more funds for the following year, because our plan is to do this every year.

Why every year? Because we have many locations that vary in climate and biome—some drier, others more humid, and others truly idyllic—but there’s something special here: it’s never cold, making it the perfect setting to host multiple events over the years. These locations are all within a four-hour drive of the safest place, Mérida, the White City.

Among the ideas is the concept of having a community ambassador each year. Since this is the first anniversary and she is the longest-standing Hive-ian in the Hive Yucatán community, @sweetgemstone will be this year’s ambassador. But starting next year, we’ll hold a contest to determine who will be the ambassador for the following year, and so on. For this, we’d look to projects that have organized similar events for guidance, such as @hiveredcarpet, well, that’s one idea.

Another central theme of this celebration will be Mayan culture, with a particular focus on Yucatán, which will be prominent in the festivities, dance, music, and local customs of the host city, Mérida, Yucatán, Mexico. But this may change, since even within those three states that make up the former Yucatán Republic, each has its own history—one I’m sure I’ll share with you later. But even though these cities are so close to one another, they each have their own customs and traditions, which shows that Mexico is a cultural mosaic.

Finally, I want to thank you for your attention and mention that in promoting the event on Web2, I’m using videos from the first time Hive performed in Mexico—specifically content from Hive Fest 8 Ola Surfista. So, if anyone who was there doesn’t want their images used, please let me know in the comments, and I’ll edit the Web2 content.

We’ll soon be sharing updates on how the planning for our big event is going—stay tuned; things are sure to get even more interesting.

We’re considering ways for current Hive-ians to invite at least one more person, which would double our onboarding numbers. We’re also planning activities where everyone attending the event—in addition to learning from the speakers—can participate in workshops to promote key products, DApps, or updates currently being released, especially since the bulk of DHF funds are now being allocated to developers. In my humble opinion, if everyone were to organize a celebration in their country or region of the world where Hive has already arrived, it would be a better strategy for expanding more quickly and thus achieving what we’ve always sought: mass adoption.

Ese es el plan que estamos llevando hasta ahora, podríamos cambiar de plan si recibimos algún tipo de apoyo o sugerencia, pero por ahora ese formulario y los fondos que llegan desde porcentajes que estamos poniendo forma voluntaria de beneficiario a la cuenta @hiveyucatan entre toda la comunidad activa en Hive Yucatán en sus publicaciones. Y lo que vamos acumulando lo estamos haciendo DCA de BTC gracias a V4V.app, para que el día del festejo o cuando ya se acerque decidamos que es mejor si vender ese BTC o pedir un Loans por el, para tener mas fondos para el año siguiente, porque nuestra idea es hacerlo cada año.

Porqué cada año? Porque tenemos muchos lugares que cambian en tipo de bioma de clima , unos mas secos otros mas húmedos otros muy paradisiacos, pero hay algo especial aquí nuca hay frio, lo que lo hace un espacio perfecto para tener múltiples cedes a través de los años. Con lugares diferentes pero no tienen ni 4 horas de distancia en carro del lugar mas seguro que es Mérida la Ciudad Blanca.

Entre las ideas esta el punto de tener una embajadora de la comunidad cada año, este por ser el primer aniversario y ser la Hive-ian con mas antigüedad en la comunidad de Hive Yucatán será @sweetgemstone, pero el siguiente año incluso tendremos un certamen para ver quien sería la embajadora del siguiente año y así sucesivamente, para esto buscaríamos proyectos que hayan hecho eventos de ese tipo para orientarnos como @hiveredcarpet, bueno eso es una idea.

También como temática para esta celebración será la cultura maya con inclinación yucateca la que predomine en el festejo, la danza, la música y de las costumbres del lugar que será sede, Mérida Yucatán México. Pero puede cambiar pues en solo esos tres estados que representan la antigua republica yucateca que eso también tiene su historia que seguro luego les contaré. Pero cada ciudad a pesar de ser tan cercanas tienen sus propios usos y costumbres, eso demuestra que México es un mosaico cultural.

Por ultimo quiero agradecer su atención y mencionar que en la promoción del evento en Web2 estoy usando videos de la Primera vez que Hive tocó tierras mexicanas el contenido del Hive Fest 8 Ola Surfista así que si alguien que haya estado ahí, no quiere que se usen sus imágenes me lo puede hacer saber en los comentarios y yo editaré el contenido de Web2.

Próximamente estaremos compartiendo actualizaciones de como va el proceso de nuestro gran evento, espérenlo, seguro las cosas se pondrán mas interesantes. Tenemos en mente dinámicas y formas donde los que ya son Hive-ian inviten por lo menos a uno mas y tendríamos el doble de onboardings, como también dinámicas pensadas en que todos los que asistan a la fiesta, aparte de llevarse todo el aprendizaje de los speakers, hacer talleres para impulsar principales productos, Dapps o actualizaciones que están saliendo en estos momentos cuando el grueso de los fondos de la DHF esta sirviendo para los desarrolladores, en mi humilde manera de pensar es que que si cada quien hiciera una celebración por país o zona en el mundo donde ya haya llegado Hive sería una mejor estrategia para expandirnos mas rápido y así lograr lo que siempre hemos buscado la adopción masiva.
