LOH 284: THE GOOD MOTHER-IN-LAW

This week's prompt in the @ladiesofhive community is basically about how I would be when I become a mother-in-law in the future. In our contemporary world everyone claims to have the best mothers and no one is accepting the bad Mothers out there. Then we question ourselves who exactly are the children of bad Mothers. One thing I've gotten to realize is that some women may be so kind and generous to their own children but when it comes to other people's children they are mean and dangerous.

For instance, I remember when I was a teenager there was this woman who was a colleague of my mother in the school where she was teaching and one day I remember clearly greeting her "good afternoon ma" but she did not hear and I was not ready to shout for the second time. Would you believe that this woman some minutes later started accusing me in the presence of people that I did not have respect as I did not greet her whereas she was the one that did not hear me greeting her in the first instance.

I let that go but I never forgot about it. Fast forward to our present day I got to find out that her daughter was a spoilt brat who was disrespectful even towards her. As I speak now the girl is pregnant for a married man, I am not using this to shame the woman but before you start correcting other people's children you should at least discipline yours at home.

So back to the question of what kind of mother-in-law would want to be in the future I definitely want to be the best mother-in-law to my daughter's husband or son's wife whatever the case may be. The only thing that would allow me do this would be to uphold my pride and dignity as a woman and a mother so that nobody would have the audacity to disrespect me in any way.

Except if the person my daughter or son get married to is wayward and disrespectful, I do not see any reason why I will be a bad mother-in-law especially when I respect myself. As an educated woman i know when to do more and went to draw back because i really did not want anybody to disrespect me as people can be so terrible in our present world.
