Tip for Tourists -The card Brnopas

Ač brněnský rodák, strávil jsem jeden den v roli turisty. Za 300 korun jsem si na Slevomatu koupil jednodenní Brnopas, v turistickém centru na Staré radnici si ho vyzvedl a pustil se do objevování. Vybíral jsem si atrakce, na které jsem měl díky Brnopasu volný vstup.
EN: Although I was born in Brno, I spent one day there as a tourist. I bought a one-day Brnopas for 300 CZK (12 Euros) on Slevomat.cz (the Czech discount portal), picked it up at the Tourist Information Centre at the Old Town Hall, and started exploring the city. I choose the attractions offering free entry with the tourist card.
Zastávka první: Zoologická zahrada
Na návštěvu brněnské ZOO jsem si vyčlenil dopoledne. Momentálně se buduje nový vstup a parkoviště. Hodně propojovacích stezek bylo uzavřeno, tak se muselo hodně obcházet. Nevýhodou je, že se zahrada nachází na kopci, přesněji na Mniší hoře, ale nahoru se dá vyjet vláčkem a z kopce dolů to pak jde snadněji. Přišlo mi, že hodně expozic bylo bez obyvatel, ale i tak jsem viděl hodně zajímavého.
EN: I planned to visit the Brno Zoo in the morning. At the moment, a new entrance and parking area are being built. Many connecting paths were closed, so I had to take several detours. One disadvantage is that the zoo is located on a hill, specifically Mniší hora, but you can take a small train to the top, and walking downhill is much easier.
It seemed to me that many enclosures were without animals, but I still saw many interesting species.
Po obědě jsem vyrazil na hrad Špilberk. Ten dříve sloužil jako sídlo královny, potom se jako pevnost osvědčil během třicetileté války. Poté následovala poněkud temnější historie, kdy na hradě bylo zřízeno obávané vězení. Nyní je Špilberk sídlem Muzea města Brna. Majitelé Brnopasu mají nárok na absolvování jednoho okruhu zdarma. Vybral jsem si lapidárium umístěné v hradním vodojemu.
EN: After lunch, I headed to Špilberk Castle. It once served as the residence of a queen and later proved its strength as a fortress during the Thirty Years’ War. This was followed by a darker period in its history, when the castle became a feared prison. Today, Špilberk is the seat of the Brno City Museum. Holders of the Brnopas are entitled to one free tour. I chose the lapidarium located in the castle’s water reservoir.
Na protějším kopci stojí katedrála Petra a Pavla. A i zde nabízejí držitelům Brnopasu výhodu: zdarma se pokochat pohledem na Brno z petrovských věží.
On the opposite hill, there is the Cathedral of St. Peter and Paul. Brnopas holders can visit the towers for free and enjoy a beautiful view of Brno.
V nabídce je i vyhlídka z věže Staré radnice, já si ale tentokrát vybral expozici věnovanou brněnským pověstem ve sklepení Nové radnice. V historických prostorách, kde se ve středověku nacházela mincmistrova dílna, je výstava určená převážně dětem.
EN: You can also visit the tower of the Old Town Hall for free with the card, but this time I chose an exhibition about Brno legends in the basement of the New Town Hall. It is mainly for children and is located in historic rooms where the mint master worked in the Middle Ages.
Také jsem využil příležitosti podívat se po dlouhé době do expozic Muzea romské kultury. Toto muzeum je v Evropě unikátní.
I also took the opportunity to visit the exhibitions of the Museum of Romani Culture . The last time I was there was long time ago. This museum is unique in Europe.
Brnopas ale zahrnuje i vstup na některá sportoviště ve správě města Brna. Takže jsem náročný den zakončil v kohoutovickém akvaparku.
Máte-li v Brně volný jeden až tři dny, tak se pořízení turistické karty určitě vyplatí a to už při kombinaci dvou dražších aktivit. Za plnou cenu vstupenek bych toho dne zaplatil více než tisíc korun.
EN: The Brnopas includes entry to some sports facilities in Brno, so I ended my busy day at the Kohoutovice Aquapark.
If you spend one to three days in Brno, the tourist card is definitely worth buying, even if you visit only two more expensive attractions. Without the card, I would have paid more than 1,000 CZK (40 Euros) for tickets that day.
