Paying for What Should Be Free

I could remember going to a secretariat in my local government to get work approved; it shocked me when I heard that I had to pay before they could stamp it for me. I refused, and I was waiting for them to call me in because I got confused in a way that this thing is meant to be free. Why are these people collecting money and turning it into a cash out business for them?

Though it was something that looked big to me, I was not expecting them to also do that type of thing in a place like that because processes like that shouldn't require any payment. While I was staying outside, one of the men who also came to sign approached me and said, “They will soon close. If you want the stamp, settle them on time". He said that in our local language, and I don't think I can easily forget that moment.

Before I reached this stage in my life. I usually believe that all it takes is just for me to try, put in effort, and wait. But naive me didn't know that life is beyond that and it is not always about hard work alone. But now, I have gotten to know that it goes beyond that and that it is more or less of what I am willing to do and give to get what I want.

Well, I was furious when I realized that is how the system is and that is how it has been designed. But now, I know better because anytime I want to agree with a situation like that, I always find a way to get out of it without having to pay, and that usually makes me feel better knowing that I didn't trade myself away.
