¡Hola amigos! Hoy les vengo a traer mi reseña acerca de la temporada 5 de la serie Emily en París. Me tarde en verla porque no estaba muy convencida de hacerlo, pero no puedo negar que es mi placer culposo.
Hi, everyone! Today I’m here to share my review of season 5 of the series Emily in Paris. It took me a while to watch it because I wasn't really sure I wanted to, but I can't deny that it's my guilty pleasure.
Trama - Plot
Esta quinta temporada nos encuentra con una Emily construyendo una nueva vida en Roma. Lista para hacerse cargo de la sucursal italiana de la agencia que piensa abrir Sylvie, se ve con el dilema de ganarse la confianza de la marca Muratori y captar nuevos clientes para esta etapa que está empezando. Con amores del pasado dejados en París y un rumbo apasionante por descubrir en Roma, ¿el italiano será más fácil que el francés? Descúbrelo en esta nueva y emocionante temporada.
This fifth season finds Emily building a new life in Rome. Ready to take charge of the Italian branch of the agency Sylvie plans to open, she faces the challenge of earning the trust of the Muratori brand and attracting new clients for this new chapter she’s embarking on. With past loves left behind in Paris and an exciting path to discover in Rome, will Italian be easier than French? Find out in this new and exciting season.
Reseña - Review
Me gustaría empezar diciendo que Emily en París se convirtió en esa serie que es un placer culposo. Disfruto verla, pero también reniego mucho. Cada vez que me entero de una nueva temporada digo que no la voy a ver, pero ahí sigo, cuando lo hago me quedo muy enganchada y la maratoneo, un capítulo tras otro. Es un consumo bobo, no es una serie que esté esperando con ansias, ni nada, pero es ideal para desconectar un rato y creo que también suma que sus capítulos tengan una duración corta, de un promedio de 30 minutos.
I’d like to start by saying that Emily in Paris has become one of those guilty pleasures. I enjoy watching it, but I also complain about it a lot. Every time I hear about a new season, I tell myself I’m not going to watch it, but there I am—once I start, I get totally hooked and binge-watch it, one episode after another. It’s mindless entertainment; it’s not a show I’m eagerly awaiting or anything, but it’s perfect for zoning out for a while, and I think it helps that the episodes are short, averaging about 30 minutes.
Eso sí, sé que siempre vamos a estar repitiendo la misma fórmula, los personajes cometiendo los mismos errores una y otra vez, parejas que vuelven, otras que terminan y un ciclo sin fin por el estilo. Pero tiene ese no sé qué que logra engancharme de todos modos. Adoro ver los paisajes, los vestuarios, incluso la banda sonora. Emily nunca deja de meter la pata y es graciosa a su manera, supongo que le tengo cariño. Además de que me gusta la actriz.
Of course, I know we’re always going to be repeating the same formula—characters making the same mistakes over and over, couples getting back together, others breaking up, and an endless cycle like that. But it has that certain something that manages to hook me anyway. I love watching the scenery, the costumes, and even the soundtrack. Emily never stops messing up, and she’s funny in her own way—I guess I’ve grown fond of her. Plus, I like the actress.
Pero dejando de lado eso, entiendo que no es la mejor serie y es muy repetitiva, cuando parece que no hay nada más que contar igual se las ingenian para volver al punto de partida y empezar de nuevo. Los personajes van de un lado para el otro, intentando acomodar sus vidas y dándose cuenta que en realidad están dando vueltas en círculo. Es un dilema de nunca acabar.
But putting that aside, I get that it’s not the best show and it’s very repetitive; just when it seems like there’s nothing left to tell, they somehow manage to go back to square one and start all over again. The characters go back and forth, trying to get their lives in order and realizing that they’re actually just going around in circles. It’s a never-ending dilemma.
Acá estábamos en Roma, pero de nuevo seguía todo más o menos igual, con los mismos personajes en acción y los mismos problemas. No funcionó y luego volvimos a París, porque sí, esto es Emily en París, no en Roma. Lo único que cambió fue el paisaje y el idioma, después era todo parecido. Y sí amigos, por como viene la mano, habrá una nueva temporada en algún momento. ¿La veré? Probablemente, ya les dije que es mi placer culposo. Esa serie confort que es divertida aunque sin sentido, pero que no se le pide más porque está hecha para esa finalidad.
So there we were in Rome, but once again everything was pretty much the same—the same characters in action and the same problems. It didn’t work out, so we went back to Paris, because, well, this is Emily in Paris, not Emily in Rome. The only things that changed were the scenery and the language; everything else was pretty much the same. And yes, friends, the way things are going, there will be a new season at some point. Will I watch it? Probably—I already told you it’s my guilty pleasure. That comforting series that’s fun even if it’s nonsensical, but you don’t ask for more because that’s exactly what it’s made for.
