here are a couple of shots from some pools along the rocky southern Norwegian coastline. it was a special day with near perfect conditions so i took quite a few shots from different angles and different pools and have posted a few of these earlier. this first shot has a particularly mountainous feel to it but it was just meters from the sea. the pools are a mix of rainwater and splashes and spray from breaking waves on stormy days. the water is clear so it is easy to see the bottom of the pool with the blue sky only partially reflected.
this second shot is the exact same place but from a different and lower angle with more blue sky and sufficient mirroring that the bottom of the pool is far less visible. in the shot above the reflections of the two main rocks are clearly separate and easily distinguished. from a lower angle though the reflection of the cleft between the two is filled with rock that makes the image rather confusing. what looks like a continuous line of rock on the blue water is actually a mix of the large rock on the left and the main solid rock behind that happens to fall such that it creates a reflection with the illusion of being continuous. looking closer you can see the reflection of the smaller sharper rock on the right on the green water. the higher solid rock is mirrored so thoroughly that the water seems to disappear. just above the tufts of grass there is a stone with a rounded top sticking above the surface of the water. look again at the shot above and you can see the same rock at the bottom of the shot. so now i have to decide which photo to enter in the contest, the first more aesthetic or the second more technically interesting.
i guess it will have to be the first one. happy hunting
