While on holiday, we stopped for a coffee and a bite to eat, at the dog friendly Salt Pig Café in Studland Bay, on the Isle of Purbeck during a walk. It sounds as though their speciality is the Salt Pig Burger. As I'm a vegetarian, I decided to go for something else.

We ordered two cappuccinos (one decaf) with oatmilk, chocolate sprinkles, and egg and mushroom cobs.

We were given a flip flop with our table number on it. They then shout your number and you then go and collect your order. It was a nice little touch. Normally, it's a wooden spoon. The scenery wasn't too shabby either with views across the sea.

We also noticed they sell doggy icecream called 'Pawbeck,' which is a nod to the Isle of Purbeck.

The coffee was hot and decent, just what we needed after a bracing walk along the seashore. The cob was simple but filling.

While we were sitting there, my friend's dog kept looking around at other tables to see if anyone might drop some food. He didn’t get anything. He wouldn't have got far, though, as his lead was on.

After we'd finished our drinks one thing we noticed was a tube to put your used coffee cups in so that they can be recycled. It was a really good idea plus it helps keep the area tidy.

While I was sitting there, I downloaded the Merlin Bird app as we could hear lots of birds singing. The app tells you what bird it is. This was the result.
From previous reviews of the café, people have had to wait a long time to get their order. Even though the weather was fine, perhaps not as many people were out, as we got served very quickly. Overall, it was a welcome pit stop. Nothing fancy, but a nice rustic place to sit outside and have a coffee.
