In my last review, I told you that I became completely obsessed with Lisa Kleypas’s Wallflowers series. One thing I love about this series is that each story ties directly into the one before it. You finish one book… and you’re practically already into the next one. If you read my previous review, you know I was fascinated by this world, completely in love with Annabelle and Simon. But what I didn’t know at the time… was that this was only the beginning. Because each book manages to hook you even more, obsess you even more, and pull you even deeper into this story.

And this one, in particular, was already loaded with anticipation. From the very first book, you can feel that tension between Lillian and Marcus… those dangerous sparks between two opposites who not only attract each other but seem destined to clash in the most chaotic way possible. So yeah, I was already ready for the drama 😌

This book was intense, frustrating, and absolutely addictive. I wanted to punch both main characters… but they also made me laugh so hard. It was a delightful emotional roller coaster, with that enemies-to-lovers dynamic that drives you crazy… but also makes your heart race🔥

Algo que me encanta de esta saga es que cada historia conecta directamente con la anterior. Terminas un libro… y prácticamente ya estás dentro del siguiente. Si leíste mi reseña anterior, sabes que quedé fascinada con este mundo, completamente enamorada de Annabelle y Simon. Pero lo que no sabía en ese momento… era que eso solo era el comienzo. Porque cada libro logra engancharte más, obsesionarte más, hacerte caer aún más profundo en esta historia.

Y este en particular ya venía cargado de expectativa. Desde el primer libro se siente esa tensión entre Lillian y Marcus… esas chispas peligrosas de dos polos opuestos que no solo se atraen, sino que parecen destinados a chocar de la forma más caótica posible. Así que sí, yo ya estaba lista para el drama 😌

Este libro fue intenso, frustrante y absolutamente adictivo. Quería golpear a los dos protagonistas… pero también me hicieron reír muchísimo. Fue una montaña rusa emocional deliciosa, con ese enemies to lovers que te desespera… pero también te acelera el corazón🔥

One thing I love about this series is the way Lisa Kleypas introduces the secondary characters who later become protagonists. She gives you just enough to pique your interest, without stealing the spotlight from the main story. And when you finally get to their book… you’re already emotionally hooked. It’s a perfect balance, especially considering that all the stories are intertwined and you end up feeling like part of that same social circle.

And if there’s one thing that remains constant—and grows stronger with each passing day—it’s the friendship between the Wallflowers. Not only does it stay the same, but it grows, deepens, and becomes more solid with every book. Even as their lives move forward, as they begin to get married, start families, and take on new roles in society… their bond remains intact. They remind you that, sometimes, the greatest loves of your life aren’t romantic… but those friends who stick around, who support you, and who grow with you 💕✨

💐Las Wallflowers💐

Algo que me encanta de esta saga es la forma en que Lisa Kleypas introduce a los personajes secundarios que luego se convierten en protagonistas. Te da lo justo y necesario para despertar tu interés, sin robarle protagonismo a la historia principal. Y cuando finalmente llegas a su libro… ya estás emocionalmente atrapada. Es un equilibrio perfecto, sobre todo considerando que todas las historias están entrelazadas y terminas sintiéndote parte de ese mismo círculo social.

Y si hay algo que se mantiene constante —y cada vez más fuerte— es la amistad entre las Wallflowers. No solo no cambia, sino que crece, se fortalece, se vuelve más sólida con cada libro. Aun cuando sus vidas avanzan, cuando comienzan a casarse, a formar familias, a ocupar nuevos lugares dentro de la sociedad… su vínculo sigue intacto. Te recuerdan que, a veces, los amores más grandes de tu vida no son románticos… sino esos amigos que se quedan, que te sostienen y que crecen contigo 💕✨

Lillian Bowman is a protagonist who doesn’t go unnoticed. She’s feisty, intense, proud… and yes, she’s one of those people you either love or want to shake😂. There were moments when she frustrated me to no end, when I wanted to yell at her… but she’s also one of those people who, when they feel something, give it their all.

Lillian is American, and that alone puts her in a complicated position within strict London society. She comes from a family of nouveau riche: her father, a man who built his fortune from scratch thanks to the soap industry, decided to take his daughters to England after they failed to find success in the New York marriage market. And the thing is, in that Victorian era, it was quite common: young American women crossed the ocean in search of a marriage to an English aristocrat who would give them status… while they brought the wealth.

Do I blame them? Not at all. I’d be right there doing the same thing 😌

Unlike other female leads, Lillian has standards and boundaries, and although she wants to get married, she’s not willing to settle for just anyone. That puts her even more at odds with those around her… and with one man in particular.

🌻La trama🌻

Lillian Bowman es una protagonista que no pasa desapercibida. Tiene carácter, es intensa, orgullosa… y sí, es de esas que puedes amar o querer sacudir😂. Hubo momentos en los que me frustró muchísimo, en los que quería gritarle… pero también es de esas personas que, cuando sienten, lo hacen con todo.

Lillian es americana, y eso ya la coloca en una posición complicada dentro de la estricta sociedad londinense. Viene de una familia de nuevos ricos: su padre, un hombre que construyó su fortuna desde cero gracias a la industria del jabón, decidió llevar a sus hijas a Inglaterra después de que no tuvieran éxito en el mercado matrimonial de Nueva York. Y es que en esa época victoriana era bastante común: jóvenes americanas cruzaban el océano en busca de un matrimonio con un aristócrata inglés que les diera estatus… mientras ellas aportaban la riqueza.

¿Las culpo? Para nada. Yo también estaría ahí haciendo lo mismo 😌

A diferencia de otras protagonistas, Lillian tiene estándares, tiene límites, y aunque quiere casarse, no está dispuesta a hacerlo de cualquier manera. Eso la hace chocar aún más con el entorno… y con cierto hombre en particular.

Marcus, Lord Westcliff, is everything society expects: a prestigious earl from one of the oldest and most prominent lineages, close to the crown, and considered the most sought-after bachelor of the season. But beyond his title, Marcus is intelligent, ambitious, and quite progressive for his time. He understands that the world is changing with the Industrial Revolution, and so he invests in business… which led him to form a strong friendship with Simon Hunt.

Marcus and Lillian are complete opposites. He is control, discipline, duty. She is impulse, emotion, chaos. From the start, they clash, irritate each other, and constantly challenge one another. Marcus sees Lillian as a haughty and immature young woman… but at the same time, there is something about her he cannot ignore.

Right from the first book, there’s a key scene that makes it clear these two were going to be a problem—the good kind. A moment that leaves a mark on Marcus and continues to resonate throughout this story. Because what begins as a battle of pride, a contest to see who gives in first… ends up becoming an attraction impossible to ignore.

Marcus, lord Westcliff, es todo lo que la sociedad espera: un conde prestigioso, con uno de los linajes más antiguos e importantes, cercano a la corona y considerado el soltero más codiciado de la temporada. Pero más allá del título, Marcus es inteligente, ambicioso y bastante progresista para su época. Entiende que el mundo está cambiando con la revolución industrial, y por eso invierte en negocios… lo que lo llevó a formar una fuerte amistad con Simon Hunt.

Marcus y Lillian son completamente opuestos. Él es control, disciplina, deber. Ella es impulso, emoción, caos. Desde el inicio chocan, se irritan, se desafían constantemente. Marcus ve en Lillian a una joven altanera e inmadura… pero al mismo tiempo, hay algo en ella que no puede ignorar.

Desde el primer libro ya hay una escena clave que deja claro que estos dos iban a ser un problema —del bueno—. Un momento que marca a Marcus y que sigue resonando en esta historia. Porque lo que empieza como una lucha de orgullo, de ver quién cede primero… termina convirtiéndose en una atracción imposible de ignorar.

There’s something deeply satisfying about watching Marcus Westcliff—the man who prides himself on having impeccable self-control—lose it completely… and all because of Lillian. Because of her, whom he insists he detests in every way. Watching his defenses crumble, seeing that facade of perfection fall apart… it was simply delightful.

Because if this romance has one thing, it’s tension. The kind you feel in every glance, every touch, every word laden with meaning. They are two people who need control, who are used to dominating their surroundings… but when it comes to feelings, they are completely lost. And watching them both fall, how attraction pulls them in, how their barriers break down little by little—especially Marcus’s—is quite an experience.

🌹El romance🌹

Hay algo profundamente satisfactorio en ver cómo Marcus Westcliff —el hombre que presume de tener un autocontrol impecable— lo pierde absolutamente todo… y justo por Lillian. Por ella, a quien insiste en que detesta en todos los sentidos. Ver cómo se le caen las defensas, cómo se le desmorona esa fachada de perfección… fue simplemente delicioso.

Porque si algo tiene este romance, es tensión. De la que se siente en cada mirada, en cada roce, en cada palabra cargada de intención. Son dos personas que necesitan el control, que están acostumbradas a dominar su entorno… pero que cuando se trata de sentimientos, están completamente perdidas. Y ver cómo ambos caen, cómo la atracción los arrastra, cómo sus barreras se rompen poco a poco —especialmente las de Marcus— es una experiencia.

I’ll admit it: ever since the first book, I’ve needed this story. I needed to see that serious, rigid, seemingly unbreakable man… fall head over heels. And when it finally happens—when he starts to lose control every time Lillian is near, when the need to have her, to touch her, to be with her consumes him… it’s simply spectacular. Yes, there are moments when you want to shake them for being so stubborn, but at the same time you’re right there, completely hooked, with your heart racing.

And the romantic moments… wow 🔥. They still have that signature Lisa Kleypas touch: well-built tension, real chemistry, and scenes that don’t need to be over-the-top to make you sigh. Everything builds up, and when that breaking point arrives… you enjoy it twice as much.

Yo lo admito: desde el primer libro necesitaba esta historia. Necesitaba ver a ese hombre serio, rígido, aparentemente inquebrantable… caer rendido. Y cuando finalmente sucede, cuando empieza a perder el control cada vez que Lillian está cerca, cuando la necesidad de tenerla, de tocarla, de estar con ella lo consume… es simplemente espectacular. Sí, hay momentos en los que quieres sacudirlos por tercos, pero al mismo tiempo estás ahí, completamente enganchada, con el corazón acelerado.

Y los momentos románticos… uff 🔥. Siguen teniendo ese toque característico de Lisa Kleypas: tensión bien construida, química real y escenas que no necesitan ser exageradas para hacerte suspirar. Todo se construye, y cuando llega ese punto de quiebre… lo disfrutas el doble.

Lillian:

She was a character who frustrated me on more than one occasion. She’s stubborn and inflexible😩. But at the same time… I admire her immensely. And not because of that stubbornness, but because of the courage behind it. Because of her strength in staying true to who she is, even when everything around her is trying to mold her. She doesn’t fit—nor does she want to fit—into what is expected of a woman of her time. She is a young woman who wants freedom, who wants to run, laugh, enjoy herself, and live beyond society’s rigid norms. She doesn’t want to be cooped up embroidering and following rules without questioning them. She is ambitious, she is authentic, and even if that makes her a target of criticism… she never stops being herself😌✨

Marcus:

To be honest, he’s just as stubborn and inflexible as she is 😂. It’s like seeing a male version of Lillian, but wrapped up in control, duty, and aristocratic rigidity. As you get to know them, you realize they couldn’t be with anyone else. They’re an explosive combination, yes… but also an inevitable one.

What I loved most about Marcus was his growth. It’s not that he stops being who he is, but he learns. He learns to let go, to be more flexible, to laugh at himself. And that change is beautiful. He goes from being cold, closed off, and calculating… to showing himself to be more open, more intense, more human. And yes, I admit it without shame: he was my favorite male lead in the series. I loved him so much 😭

🌺Personajes🌺

Lillian:

Fue un personaje que me frustró en más de una ocasión. Es terca e inflexible😩. Pero al mismo tiempo… la admiro muchísimo. Y no por esa terquedad, sino por la valentía que hay detrás de ella. Por esa fuerza de mantenerse firme en quién es, incluso cuando todo a su alrededor intenta moldearla. Ella no encaja —ni quiere encajar— en lo que se espera de una mujer de su época. Es una joven que quiere libertad, que quiere correr, reír, disfrutar, vivir más allá de las normas rígidas de la sociedad. No quiere estar encerrada bordando y siguiendo reglas sin cuestionarlas. Es ambiciosa, es auténtica, y aunque eso la convierta en blanco de críticas… nunca deja de ser ella misma😌✨

Marcus:

Siendo honesta, es igual de terco e inflexible que ella 😂. Es como ver la versión masculina de Lillian, pero envuelta en control, deber y rigidez aristocrática. A medida que los conoces, entiendes que no podrían estar con otra persona. Son una combinación explosiva, sí… pero también inevitable.

Lo que más amé de Marcus fue su desarrollo. No es que deje de ser quien es, pero aprende. Aprende a soltar, a flexibilizarse, a reírse de sí mismo. Y ese cambio es precioso. Pasa de ser frío, cerrado y calculador… a mostrarse más abierto, más intenso, más humano. Y sí, lo admito sin pena: fue mi protagonista masculino favorito de la saga. Lo amé muchísimo 😭

“Cásate conmigo, porque necesito a alguien que me enseñe a reírme de mí mismo… Cásate conmigo, Lillian… porque estoy completamente fascinado con tus orejas.”

It’s amazing how, by the time I reached the final chapters, I was already desperate to finish… but only so I could start the next one. The thing is, Lisa Kleypas’s formula works just too well: it’s a light, entertaining read that flows effortlessly… but in the end, it gives you that touch of drama you need to leave you satisfied.

That said, although the final plot twist was well—and cruelly—crafted, I feel like it could have been developed a little more. It was resolved pretty quickly… though, to be honest, I think I’m also grateful for that. I don’t know if I would have wanted to see how far the situation could have escalated if it had dragged on longer 😅

And I have to say it: yes, these men are seductive, intense, irresistible… but deep down, all of that is thanks to her. Because the real seductress here is the author. It’s her way of writing, of building tension, of drawing you in little by little… that leaves you completely hooked, jumping from one book to the next without being able to stop.

Es increíble cómo, llegando a los últimos capítulos, ya estaba desesperada por terminar… pero solo para empezar el siguiente. Y es que la fórmula de Lisa Kleypas funciona demasiado bien: lectura ligera, entretenida, que fluye sin esfuerzo… pero que al final te da ese toque de drama necesario para dejarte satisfecha.

Eso sí, aunque el plot twist final estuvo bien —y cruelmente— construido, siento que pudo haberse desarrollado un poquito más. Se resolvió bastante rápido… aunque, siendo honesta, creo que también lo agradezco. No sé si hubiera querido ver hasta dónde podía escalar la situación si se extendía más 😅

Y tengo que decirlo: sí, estos hombres son seductores, intensos, irresistibles… pero en el fondo, todo eso es mérito de ella. Porque la verdadera seductora aquí es la autora. Es su forma de escribir, de construir tensión, de envolverte poco a poco… lo que hace que termines completamente enganchada, saltando de un libro a otro sin poder parar.
