First Show With Original Content Of ECW on TNN

This video was uploaded this week on the Steel Cage Banzai YouTube channel. It is the first episode of ECW on TNN which had original content, airing on September 3 1999. The first episode of the show aired the week previously, but the show used earlier footage to introduce the ECW brand to the larger national audience.

This episode had many memorable moments, including the Dudley Boyz winning the ECW World Tag Team titles on their last night in the company. The angle was that the team then was going to take the ECW tag team championship to the then-WWF. The ending, however, had one of ECW's memorable moments - especially for a championship match.

It also saw Joel Gertner introduce himself as the "unnamed" color commentator to join Joey Styles for the ECW on TNN shows going forward. The crowd's helping him finish his limerick is one of the funnier crowd interaction segments as well!

Taz vs. Tajiri to open the show for the ECW World Heavyweight Championship was a quick, intense match; and it showed how rabid the crowd at the Elk Lodge in Queens NY was that night.
