Decoration and preparation for Easter celebration

Probably one of the best days to write a post about decorating an apartment for the Easter holidays in the #HiveCollectors community, it's probably the day we celebrate Easter?

Not to upset you, probably a large number of Christians (ie, about 2.2 billion) will think correctly, Easter was last week (all Catholics and part of the Orthodox who accepted the Gregorian calendar in the churches), but still, there are us Orthodox who celebrate church holidays according to the Julian calendar, about 300 million of us.

And so, today I, like my Orthodox brothers and sisters around the world, celebrate Easter. Happy Easter!

Unlike the Christmas and New Year holidays, when we decorate our home with a Christmas tree and decorations that we have kept for years, for Easter, we do not decorate our home excessively.

For Easter, our home is decorated with painted eggs, which we keep in a basket from Good Friday, after we paint them, until Easter.

The process of egg preparation begins on Friday morning, when we choose leaves of interesting shapes in nature with which we will decorate the eggs. All you need for decorated Easter eggs is: lots of eggs 🙂 , leaves of interesting shapes, a thin female stocking, knitting thread, a large pot for cooking eggs, a few small dishes for painting and gloves, so that your hands don't end up like mine.

Eggs with leaves are wrapped in a woman's stocking, tied, and such eggs go for cooking. After cooking, dip the eggs in egg dye. The first egg, the so-called keeper's house, is painted red and we put that egg in a display case, where it will wait for the next Easter.

After removing the egg from the paint and freeing it from the sock and the leaf, coat the egg with oil, so that the color will stand out even more.

This is just one of the egg dyeing techniques, which I used a few years ago, because it is the most interesting to me.

We always decorate the eggs in the basket with small chocolate eggs and a chocolate Easter bunny. It's clear that those chocolate eggs and bunny don't stay long in my collection, little by little, I'll eat them in the following days, when I have a little sweet tooth.

But that's why I have a miniature ceramic bunny, which I bought at the Easter bazaar in Szeged a few years ago.

Along with that bunny, I can also declare these chickens in a basket, pillows in the shape of a small yellow duck, a miniature wooden decoration with a bunny, and these three decorations, one bunny and two chickens, as my permanent set for Easter.

One chicken is an action chicken and by winding the mechanism it can jump as long as there is space and not fall off the table it is jumping on 🙂

In addition to decorations, small decorations, baskets with painted eggs that we cover with interesting napkins, we also decorate the Easter table with special care. There are savlets with Easter details, a little bunny on a bicycle.

The table for Easter lunch is always rich, and this year we had a pig under the basket.

The collection is not as impressive as some of the previous ones, but even if only one of these details is there, it is enough, this day itself is very valuable because it brings together the most important things in life, our most loved ones, for lunch and socializing together.
