I Didn’t Get the Job
An image generated with AI
A few days ago, I wrote a post where I asked if I could still get a corporate job at 45, and in that post, I shared my thoughts, my doubts, and the little hope I had as I decided to give it a try. It was not something I was fully confident about, but at the same time, it felt like something I needed to do.
Now, I have the answer.
I did not get the job.
I wrote a few days ago in which I was asking if I could still get a corporate job at 45, and in the post, I wrote down the things that crossed my mind, the doubts I had and the very small hope I had in myself that led me to give it a try. I was not really sure I would make it, but at the same time, I knew that I needed to.
Even when I entered the process, I already knew it wouldn't be that easy and that a part of me still wanted things to turn out differently this one time, and I really kept that small hope in me and tried to protect it without saying anything.
The outcome was not for me. And even though I was not really surprised, the feeling was undeniable. There is always this meeting of hope and reality, the one that tells us the outcome and leave us with nothing else to do but to deal with it, whether we like it or not.
And what really stayed with me, it's not the rejection itself, but what it represented for me. It wasn't just the job itself, but the orientation, a change of perspective, a sure means of income.
So I found myself asking myself some question I could not easily answer: maybe it was my age, or my inexperience in a formal job or simply it was not for me. Such thoughts are inevitable.
I was also thought about the process itself, about the waiting, the anticipation, and how fast everything can change. You're thinking of the possibilities and all of a sudden you're accepting the fact that it didn't work out.
But at the same time, the experience taught me one important thing. Not everything is going to work out for me the way I want it to be. That's just the reality of things, and of course, that's not very fun to go through at times when you're on the receiving end of it.
But I guess right now I have to take things the way they are. It's definitely painful, but I cannot let the disappointment take over my entire life, for too long. Just because I missed out on this particular opportunity, doesn't mean that life has come to an end, though right now I can't see what direction to look unto.
This is about it for the job application.
I didn't get the job and that's the harsh truth of it all. But again, this isn't the end, this is simply just one of those little bumps in the road that I have to climb over and then move past as I continue my journey of hope.
