Having a mini garden at home has become one of the most meaningful things we do as a family. It’s not just about saving money or having fresh food on the table it’s experiencing the joy of growing something with your own hands especially to my daughter.
Today, I want to share our real journey as we slowly build our small strawberry garden.

We are still at the beginning stage. We recently started planting and collecting different varieties of strawberries to see which ones will adapt well to our environment. Since strawberries can be a bit sensitive depending on the weather, we are observing carefully how they respond to sunlight, watering, and soil. It’s not always easy, but every small progress feels like a win for us. Also, this is my dream to our backyard gardening to have a strawberry plant.

One of the highlights of this journey is that I really made an effort to buy live strawberry plants potted seedlings because my daughter has always dreamed of having strawberries in our garden. Honestly, they are quite expensive, but seeing her excitement every time she checks the plants makes everything worth it. It’s not just about the fruit anymore, but the happiness it brings to our home.
My husband plays a big role in taking care of our plants. I can really see his dedication he waters them properly, checks their condition, and makes sure they are protected. Watching him care for the garden makes me appreciate the process even more. Gardening is not just planting; it’s consistent effort and attention every day.

Aside from strawberries, my husband also tried planting cherry tomatoes using seeds from overripe tomatoes we had at home. Out of everything he planted, only four survived. At first, it felt a bit disappointing, but we realized that this is part of gardening. Not everything grows good, and that’s okay. What matters is we learn and keep trying planting and planting always.

He also started experimenting with a small hydroponics setup. Since the plants are quite delicate, he covered them with a mosquito net to protect them from pests. It’s still a trial and error process, but we are enjoying the experience. Little by little, we are learning what works best. I brought different seed through online.
Our lettuce is currently the most successful in our garden. It grows well, and we are able to harvest regularly. We even started selling some online, mostly to nearby buyers. It may be small, but it helps us in our daily needs. At the same time, we get to enjoy fresh lettuce for our meals, especially for simple salads and snacks.

I realized that gardening teaches patience more than anything. You cannot rush growth. You have to wait, care, and trust the process. There are always failures, but there are also small victories that make everything worth it.

This mini garden may be simple, but it brings happiness especially to my daughter. We are still learning, still growing, and still hoping that one day, we will harvest our own sweet strawberries.

Thank you so much for reading and supporting our gardening journey. This is my owned picture, edited in Canva.
